NO MORE CONSTIPATION...figured it out!!!
Go to CVS or Walgreens or wherever they have laxatives and buy a 10 oz. Bottle of Magnesium Citrate. It comes in cherry or lime, glass bottle, and tastes like candy!I drank the whole bottle (as per instructions) along with about 1 1/2 qts. water and in less than 6 hrs I was all flushed out! What a WONDERFUL concoction!! One of my girlfriends works @ CVS in the pharmacy and I took her advice!! I will never rely on any of that other stuff again when i have severe constipation from surgery/anesthesia/pain meds. Yayyyy!!! I feel like the world has been lifted off my....stomach? Lol! Best part is...it's only $2.50! Hope this helps some of you suffering with the case of the ickies ![]() Let me know if this works for you ![]() |

I'm glad you found something that works!
Make sure you don't do that too often though, it also flushes the meds out of your system while it's doing its thing. Eat lots of food that has fiber in it and drink lots of water, it's best to keep your system regulated naturally than with that stuff. It's usually reserved as a last ditch attempt rather than the first go-to. But yay for no more constipation!

Ditto kpang. I used lots of stool softeners and laxatives when it was really bad during the first 4 days and now I'm relying on just some natural stool softeners and lots of fiberous food. In fact I've gone almost completely raw and it's making such a difference. It's so hot anyway all the salad feels great in my system. In the evenings I go for a walk when it's cooler and that has also been very helpful. I live in southern Oregon and we are getting a lot of smoke from all the wild fires in Northern CA. It's hazy and hot.

I wish i was that easy when i was constipated, i got really sick from taking a FLEET laxative (a saline laxative)
those usually make me go VERY fast, and so does mag citrate, but when i was on my pain meds the laxes made me SOOOOOOO SICK and i didn't even go! glad they are working for you tho!!!!!!! ![]() the worst part of my surgery was the constipation for sure! |

magnesium citrate. Haha, in the military they call this the Mean Greenie or Rocket Fuel.
Funny, it's never worked for me! I struggle with constipation bad. I love cheese and hate roughage. So I have to use Senna or Fleet Bisocodyl (both vegetable laxatives.) They are verrrrry intense, and can cause cramping and diarrhea. But if you're super bound up, that's the way to go! |

great tip, thanks!
but....you may want to make sure you drink some water too - i've heard that laxatives can also deplete you and you'll want to make sure you keep yourself replenished. thanks again for this wonderful tip |

THANK YOU!!!!! (I think.) I just tried your magnesium citrate. It was $1.50 at the grocery store and actually tasted yummy. I pooped 3 hours later. It was not pleasant, though. There was Act I and Act II. Act II was the complete flush. I am absolutely off the meds. I don't want to go through that again. But I feel soooo much better.
EDIT: It's been maybe fifteen minutes since I wrote the first part of this post and I've gone to the bathroom maybe 6 times. Not good. Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. |

I still have yet to go....and I am at day 4. I don't feel constipated.. I just don't feel like I have to go .. so no pain.. but I know I need to so I can get rid of this bloating. Ugh. I think Ill drop the pain meds since I dont think Illl be needing them anymore and just go from there.
