Smile Back to work

I'm having my BA on July 25th, there are times I want to cancel but I keep reading the threads here and I change my mind, I would like to know how long any of you took off work. I think this is something that worries me, being close to the end of the month means OMG at work for me, I work for aan oil company and revenue means everythigng to them which means I have to get the money in before months end, last month I billed out 6.5 million but I worked my butt off.....this month there hoping for more...which means long hrs for me. So do you think I can make it back before I have to close my month? I want to thanks you gals for being here for me also, I have wanted this for so long and now I can do it because I know your all here supporting me. thank God I found this site.

I had my BA on a Friday, and was back at work by Tuesday, for half the day. Now I am back at work the full day. I do get sore being hunched over a computer, and have to give my poor, tired boobies a rest when I get home. That may have more to do with bad posture than anything.

Is there any way you can get some of the work done before your BA? Even if you have to work extra hours, it would be worth it. Even those who have "easy" recoveries need some time for the body to rest and heal. Whether or not you have pain/discomfort, etc. you will still have a couple days of pain meds, plus anesthesia to wear off. You will be very tired. That part is almost inescapable. I don't see how you'd be able to concentrate on work for long hours of the day...... I don't like to be the bearer of bad tidings, and you could prove to be the exception, but, but ,but..... at least be prepared for what you'll do if you can't get the work done.

I had mine on June 25th and went back to work on July 5th. I work in a bank as the Customer Service Coordinator and also the Commercial drive thru teller and I don't think I could have gone back any sooner. I still have someone else handle the coin for me as that is HEAVY! You're job may be different though - I'm on my feet a lot and also have a lot of dealings with customers. I almost wish I had taken off longer, I'm exhausted by the time I get home and sometimes I'm in a bit of pain. This is just my experience and you probably will heal much faster than me!

Since everyone's surgery/recovery is individual, it's impossible to say what your experience will be. I would just prepare as much as I could ahead of time, or schedule my BA at a time other than crunch time.

I would take off a week. I had mine done last Friday, a week ago, and it was only yesterday that I felt that I could maybe go back to work. You'll get tired easily because your body is in recovery mode. I'm glad that I don't have to go back to work until Mondya. My Dr. also said I needed to wait a week before I could drive. I drove yesterday for the first time and did alright - but sometimes I had a little discomfort when trying to do a big turn. I think I had a pretty easy recovery too - I didn't have too much pain - the worst was night 4. HTH.

If you are getting unders the recovery is much harder.
There is NO WAY I would have wanted less than 7 days off work.
Realistically, it took me 10 days to feel like I could 'sit up' all
day and do most light arm movements. I took two weeks though
and that will be perfect.

I think you are putting yourself under a lot of stress to get
a BA and then go right back to work. You need to rest and there's
a real reason for it - any strain, unnecessary arm movements
puts pressure on healing blood vessels, and you DON"T WANT HEMATOMA.

So do what your PS says. If it's unders you are getting, this is
NOT LIGHT SURGERY.

I agree with Val. If you're going with unders then you need at the very least a week off. I had my BA on a Monday and went back the following Wednesday. I did ok but I was and am still sore and noticed that I felt worn out alot quicker than normal. It's been 11 days post-op and I 'm still icing my boobies the minute I get home. Hope this helps...good luck!

Is there any way that you could re-schedule your ba for earlier in the month, on a thurs or fri? I scheduled my ba for a thurs. and took the entire following week off. Giving me a total of 11 days including the weekends. (plus i only had to use 7 of my vacation days) I could have gone back to work Thurs of this week but i really didn't want to push it. I still get exhausted easily.

I had a BA and lift on a Friday, and was back to work Monday. I do not recommend it!!! I was so tired, sore, and stiff.... But, I had a deadline to meet and no one else could finish up my project. Plus, I'm incredibly stubborn and don't like taking time off work (not one of my better qualities, I must admit). I would listen to the ladies who posted before me and NOT follow my example--take as much time off as possible!! Good luck!!

That does seem very soon to go back to work. I'm a school techer, so time off wasn't a problem for me. Is there any way you could work from home while you recover? If you'rre getting unders, recovery is more difficult than if you get overs. Although I imagine neithe is a fun experience.

I had my BA this past Friday, and am scheduled to go back to work on Tuesday. If I'm not feeling up to it, I'm going to call in and tell them that I hurt my back lifting one of the kids. People at work know that I've hurt myself that way before, and I figure that the limited range of motion from the BA is similar to a back injury.

I agree with lots of the gals on here, you need 1 week to adjust and to let your body accept what is happening.

Best of wishes to you!

I took off two weeks, but I think by about day 5 or 6 I could have managed to sit and do some office work. even day 4 if I really had too.
Don't fret overly much about work... just put some plans into place for someone to do the best they can at your job to fill in for you.

I would say a week, based off my experience. I had 275cc in right and 265cc in left. I also had under the muscle, but my pain was not that bad. Really. Again, it depends, but to be safe I would take a week, just so you dont strain yourself. You will also feel rested and be getting use to them by then. I felt like to ballons on my chest the first 4-5 days, now i am use to the feel

Good luck w/ that.

I took a week off work -- I have a desk job. My work team knew I was having surgery (not a BA -- I told them something else), so they knew I'd need to take it easy upon returning. I worked 1/2 days for the first few days back -- and by 2 weeks post op, was almost back to normal. My recovery was uneventful. With any complications, I can imagine needing more time off.

Do check to see what your particular restrictions are. I couldn't put my arms overhead for 6 wks -- ruling out airplane travel and other activities. Just knowing that, I was able to schedule my job around my needs.

Smile Thanks

Thanks for all of your replies, I was told today that I was having unders, and so far what I have read is that this is worse then overs, I am presumingit's because of the muscle being moved. I am having it done this Friday July 25th at 8am and I am suppose to fly to Vegas on the 1st of August to take my stepdaughter back with my husband do you think this is a good thing? As far as work is concerned I can work 1/2 day on Wed. and the rest of the week. I am getting so nervous about all of this that I still want to cancel but I know I won't because this is something I have always wanted. Even being 46 yrs old there is no reason for me not to look good and feel good about myself.

So with that....please tell me girls if I feel ok should I go to Vegas?.. we're not going to do any drinking or party we're staying at my sister inlaws.

I did end up calling in sick for the week. It was just too soon to be going in. It's not just the actual work I was concerned about... it was driving (shutting the car door - OUCH!), picking up various stuff, opening containers, all the little things you would never even think of. I want this surgery to be a one time deal. I'm not going to mess with myself if it's not 100% necessary.
