Is giving me so many problems, yesterday found out had an infection in my crease incision and this morning when I went to change my gauze my vertical incision from the lift is bleeding. Called my PS but he was in surgery. I really hope this is not warning signal. I'm very nervous.

Ahhhhh, it can be so nerve wracking. The nurse couldn't give you any advice? Any word back yet from your surgeon?
Try to not get yourself too worked up - I know it's scary though... Hopefully you'll get answers in the next hour or so from his office..... Please let us all know too.

YOu NEED to get in to see your PS. I hope you already have. If not, bug the office until you can be seen. Infection is nothing to mess around with. It only gets worse without treatment. For now, just keep the incisions clean and dry. Please let us know how you're doing.

Thanks for the support, it's much appreciated. The last ten days have been a roller coaster ride.
When my PS called me back I told him the situation and he told me to come in right away. The crease incision is oozing and the lift incision was bleeding less than this morning. He cleaned everything and put on sterile gauze. Told me he didn't want me wearing the bra or the strap all weekend and to keep immobile as much as possible. I go back in Monday. He gave me his cell number in case anything else happens over the weekend. This really has me very scared. I've never had surgery in my life, which is weird for someone my age, so I don't know how my body heals. Anyone had any experience with this? |

I will be praying for you. I've never had anything like that happen to me but follow his instructions. You have his cell incase of anything happening so that is a good thing. Take it easy and try to relax. Keep us posted please.

Thanks again for all the kind wishes. I just changed all the dressings again and the amount of "stuff" coming out of the incision sites have not changed since Thursday. I'm taking high doses of Cipro and I thought I would see some improvement in the last few days.
I've read in the forums where the implant had to be removed due to an infection but has anyone out there had an infection and had it cleared up without removal? |

Hello.
I'm a frequent reader on here but have not posted much! I had BL/BA 10/07, with a revision four weeks ago. I have a spot on my "T" section that has not healed yet and it has been monitored for infection, but no infection thus far. Are you sure you are actually infected or is it just a slow healing spot? The reason I'm asking is because at first, my doctor wasn't sure if I was developing an early infection or was a slow healer in that spot. With good self-care to the wound and another round of antibiotics I seem to have avoided a serious infection, and am starting to heal. With my original BA/BL I also had a spot that oozed yellow and was slow to heal on the other breast but with another round of antibiotics and good wound care I came out ok with that, too. Obviously I am not an expert, but an infection in the incision is not as serious as when the pocket itself becomes infected. An incision infection CAN spread to the pocket but in my situation I was able to knock it down, implants are still intact and hopefully the same thing happens for you. Best wishes.

Cyndlist, Thanks so much for your reply. When my PS first noticed it there was only a slightly red irritation in the incision when he was taking my stitches out. I thought it was just an irritation from the bra and strap but he put me on more antibiotics right away. The actual drainage of the yellow stuff started the next day. I hope as in your case it heals on it's own without going into the pocket. Good luck to you on your recovery.
