My friend who recently had hers done about 6 months ago had these sage words for me "NEW BRAS? no I don't wear bras anymore, honey I have one bra I paid $8,000 for, and thats all I need"
I'm totally with her on that.
I'm totally with you guys! I FINALLY started wearing a bra to work because my nipples are out of control and they are too sensitive for the dimmers... so I had to get a soft bra with no underwires for work. But the second I walk out the door the bra comes off! Never wear it! Shoot, as soon as I get home and walk through the door my shirt comes off, too! My p/s said I could either wear the support bra they gave me or go braless for 6 to 8 weeks, whichever feels best. He said I can wear underwire bras again after 2 months, but I'm gonna go without one as often as possible!!! Love these babys!!

absolutely useless, that... cos it makes u just wonder, who's right??

I was told a wireless/sports bra for the first 6 months. But, air out the girls as needed (which I am doing now). I am uncomfy in a bra for more than 5-6 hours at a time. But as ugly as the surgical bra is, it happens to be my most comfy bra! But I was instructed to keep a bra on as clsoe to 24 hours a day if at all possible to help with positioning and support.

Continue to call your PS office and insit on speaking with someone for post-op instructions. Good luck!
i know, when i hear that, i think WOW. i will only get to see my ps in september... i had one post-op with nurses id never met, it seemed to go ok, but couldnt ask any questions... cos of course they didnt know my implants or anything about me, just that they had to take dressing off...

cos i got 210cc... and i had zero tissue... and it was under the muscle... i (apparently) had too little breast tissue to accommodate more, though i feel ps was playing it too safe on that one, but thats jmho... the ps doesnt have a number... its the medical group which has a numbr... and they put me thru to my nurse... who is alwats on voicemail... she deosnt respond to emails either... so i gotta wait til september...

the nurses told me that BEFORE id even decided a size though... i guess it counts if, like xxAngelxx said, they feel heavy or uncomfy without a bra, but iv heard from other posts and PMs from smaller-boobed gals that it shud be ok... does that mke sense? or shud i get worried my next appointment has to be booked with the "appointments office" which is apparnently completely seperate from the clinic so i cnt ask for further details - i do hope that appointment is actually WITH the ps, cos i assumed that the post-op would also be with him and it wasnt... am going for a second opinion tomorrow abt my redo, think i shud ask there? septembers kinda far...

You do not know why some PS's require a bra while others do not, but you also do not know if they performed their surgery a little differently, which allows for more flexibility. You had to have had a contact number to reach your PS's office, in order to make calls pre-op and such.. keep calling that number until you get an answer. Best of luck hon!! just want you to have the best possible boobs you paid for!!
the contact number is the general office number... they dont usually put u thru to surgeons cos the surgeons have half hour slots they fit ppl in, so therz nevera real break... same goes for the nurses - reason i cnt get to my nurse, who never replied my questions about massage and the band... so i doubt she'd reply my mails or calls... they do have an emergency number but i was warned that thats only for emergencies... like the "appointments office", they may also be a completely sepreate entity from the people i want to speak with...

PHEW!!! lots of typing lol

Call the numbers you have and talk to everyone you have to talk to until you get someone on the phone that can schedule you an appointment to see your surgeon. Let them know you have some concerns and you don't want to wait until September.

OMG!!! I would be calling that office telling them that I want an appt with my SURGEON and if they have to schedule you for two slots for him to be able to sit and talk to you and answer your questions then they better do that! I can't believe the kind of experience you are having with that office. It sounds more like a corporation than a surgeon's office! I'm so sorry, girl... that sucks!!!

Anyway... this is what my surgeon told me, which might make some sense of all the different instructions of the different doctors. he said that years ago he used to have a big list of post-op instructions for his patients. Some followed them, some didn't... and he said it didn't really matter as far as complications. He said someone that followed all of the instructions could get a complication for whatever reason (even though they are rare) and someone who did something differently could turn out perfect. There are important things that shouldn't be wavered on, like do NOT wear a bra with underwires in it until your surgeon says you can... but as far as things like massaging or bras, if you really pressed your ps about it he would PROBABLY say that you should do what feels comfortable for you. My ps told me to wear the support bra they gave me for 6 - 8 weeks... but when I told him I'd like to go braless he said "Most women like the support of the surgical support bras right after surgery... some hate them and don't want to wear anything. If you are more comfortable without the bra then don't wear it. Just be sure you do NOT wear a bra with underwires for at least two months." As long as you take it easy and use common sense, I'm sure you will be just fine. Of course, always best to communicate with your p/s... but you have to be able to get a hold of him first!!! LOL
