Hmm that sounds like a shady PS/office!!! I would be a little concerned about that if I were you... I guess it just depends on how much you want to protect your boobie investment. If they suggested just support in general, then maybe the comfiest bras you can find or SOMETHING that helps keep them in place and helps them heal properly. It's your body though, so it's always going to be up to you whether you want to listen to their advice, obviously. I would try harder however to reach your office and get more specific instructions...it just doesn't seem fair to you to get such vague information because instead of medical professionals giving you advice you have to rely on a forum like this!! I know my PS gave me dates for when I can wear each specific type of bra again and I can't imagine not having that info.

thanks hun - theyr not bad when it comes to doing the job - they just dont seem to care AFTER the jobs been done... or before ... its more for women who "just want their boobs done safely"... theyr excellent at that.... just missin out on the care thats all
im thinking of a redo with a group which seems to care more - so il be seeing a surgeon on monday... its a "she" this time, so im expecting empathy AND bra advice lol |

I agree that you should follow the instructions you were given. I was told to wear at least shelf bra camis...but I didn't have to wear one all the time but that I should know gravity is always around and sagging can occur when not supported all the time. I wear a bra all the time minus a night or two a week when I go to bed. Sometimes I feel like just being free and live how I did prior to my BA....I don't go braless around the house. I'm always in something supportive like a bra, sports bra, or supportive cami....so I feel me and my boobies deserve some "free" time at least twice a week hehe ~ but that's just what I do....

well my PS said not to wear a bra he didn't say till when, he just said don't till they settle which from what he said could be 2 months or a year. So I think he'll tell me when i CAN wear one again, right now i'm just using dimmers.
My friend who recently had hers done about 6 months ago had these sage words for me "NEW BRAS? no I don't wear bras anymore, honey I have one bra I paid $8,000 for, and thats all I need" I'm totally with her on that. |

I called my PS at 2 weeks and asked if it was okay if i went w/out a bra and they told me it was absolutely fine..I guess this varies by PS's opinions.

My boobs feel too heavy without a bra! I'm jealous. I can only keep it off for maybe up to a half hour, then I HAVE to put it back on.

I was given a surgical bra to wear for 6 weeks. It's so uncomfortable and tight it's actually dug into my back and shoulders in places! I'm not allowed to remove it apart from to have it washed
I think all PS are different... some seem to give you support bras, some say no bra, some say a bra but no underwires. |

I'm really sorry you were not given more post-op priority. I had 3 post-op visits with my PS: day 1, day 5, and day 8. I'll go back for a 6 week visit on Aug. 8th.
I was told a wireless/sports bra for the first 6 months. But, air out the girls as needed (which I am doing now). I am uncomfy in a bra for more than 5-6 hours at a time. But as ugly as the surgical bra is, it happens to be my most comfy bra! But I was instructed to keep a bra on as clsoe to 24 hours a day if at all possible to help with positioning and support. Continue to call your PS office and insit on speaking with someone for post-op instructions. Good luck!

My doc said that I can go periods of time without wearing a bra if I want to. He feels the support a bra gives will make me more comfortable, but understands that there are times when it's just more practicle to go without. He just said he would rather I spend more time in one than not in one for now, but can set the girls free for short periods of time. HTH

I was curious too about a redo so early on..
I was told to wear my support bra 3 months. But I can wear wireless after 1 month. I actually got used to wearing the support bra that I don't mind but I hate that it makes it look smaller. So by day I wear my wireless bra. Its so crazy to me that all PS have different time frames for these things and some require no support bra at all. I think you should wear it. I think that may contribute to why I bottomed out on my 1st BA. I didn't wear my support bra for long at all because my 1st PS never said anything... |
