We are staying in a hotel right after BA

Aside from regular things to pack like toiletries etc. Is there anything else I might need for the over night. I see PS the day after BA for first follow up.

Also, does everyone typically sleep the remainder of the day? I just don't know if I will like being in a hotel room the entire time? Will I even want dinner? Thanks!

I slept alot the first day due to the meds still in system and then taking pain meds and muscle relaxers prescribed by the PS. I think you will be fine in a hotel. If you have a great pillow or something to bring to make you more cozy, do. I hate hotel beds. Some people like them.

I was not hungry the first day, but my dh made me eat. It was light and I had crackers and sprite. Easy to find around a hotel. Good luck to you.

I brought extra pillows, Sprite, broth, and frozen peas (GREAT ice packs). I did bring books but I was too dopey on Percocet to actually read them lol. I stayed in a hotel a total of 6 days, starting a day prior to my BA. It was nice, relaxing, and I liked not worried about keeping it clean. Not that I was doing anything other than eating in bed to make a mess lol.

Prior to my hotel stay I had found an ice pack at the drustore called cryofreeze. Its lasts about 8 hours and is especially great if you don't have access to a freezer. I pretty much slept the whole day after surgery other than a movie and ordered room service(beef vegetable soup) and some crackers. I was not able to move much because of the pain so couple of pillows should really be enough. The pain meds just helped me sleep and didn't do alot for the pressure of the huge elephant sitting on my chest.

I didn't sleep when I got home from my BA (got home around lunchtime). I thought I would be sleepy but I wasn't and ended up staying up until my regular bedtime. Also I was starving as soon as I left the surgical center and we stopped at Taco Bell on the way home! Everyone's different though so you may sleep a lot. I would bring some magazines or books or something to keep yourself occupied if you don't feel like sleeping. Good luck!

Yeah, you will probably just want to lay in bed and watch TV if you aren't sleeping. I was hungry, too... so you will want to bring some snacks or have someone available to get you some good take-out or room service. Bring a couple extra pillows (I made a fort around myself, pillows under my, and then pillows on the side to rest my arms on)... and you'll probably want some cold water bottles from the vending machine. Woo hoo!!! Good luck! Let us know how they turn out!
