am i the only BA w/ slow recovery?weight gain?going crazy.
WARNING NEGATIVE POST...LOL..
Im 10 days post op. I come on here and im seeing girls who got it done at the same time as me, taking pictures in bikinis, and they are talking about how a few days later they were up and fine. Its been a week and a half and i can barely now take of my surgical bra, my arms can barely lift anything, when i pick up even my water bottle its like i can feel my muscles squeezing, my back and shoulders are tired. I feel like hunch back of notre dam. And my muscles are so tight that my boobs are like really high and stuck. There is not much boob on the bottom. And this is my best day so far. AND MY BIGGEST PROBLEM... weight gain. Its so weird. Its like un natural. I havent even been eating bad. But my body's gained weight it places it never does... like my stomache and sides. its sooo weird. it doesnt even look like my body. my clothes dont fit. Im sorry im so negative... but i went into this whole BA situation scared... and now i came out of it worried that i made a wrong decision. I sound ungreatful. But im the biggest weight obsessed person i know, and this is like a nightmere to me. And being 5'2 i cant hide and extra ten pounds. And i cant even do my hair to at least make my hair look good, cuz i cant use my arms!! And i cant go to the gym!!! im going crazy!!! HELP!!!!! |

I was out of work for three weeks. I did nothing for the first two. My Dr. wouldn't even let me shower the first week and I couldn't blow dry my hair till the third because he didn't want me to lift my arms. I was still tired and felt tender when I went back to work. This week I'm feeling pretty much back to normal. I think you are fine!! Give it some time and don't push yourself.
edit: (I gained a bit of weight too but it's gone now)

Have you had a bowel movement? I know.. I know that might be TMI, but that might be why you are bloated... Take a laxative... YOU WILL FEEL WORLDS BETTER after you do! Don't get discouraged Star.. everybody's different.. It'll get better!! Are you icing regularly? Ice and Rest! Ice and Rest!!

You definitely did not gain real weight (fat) in 10 days! LOL. It takes 3500 EXTRA calories on top of what your body burns daily to gain 1 pound!!!! and as you are healing, your body is burning more calories for a few days (or weeks).
You are retaining water and are probably constipated from the pain killers and antibiotics, AND the not moving around thing... Suggestions: 1. Get 'Swiss Kriss' herbal laxative tablets from a vitamin store (I swear nothing works quicker!!!) 2. Drink lots of water - the more water you drink, the less water you retain. 3. Get up and walk around daily (slow and careful) so that your body functions start moving again. The walking will also help you to heal faster (just listen to your body and don't overdo). Whatever you do... do NOT stop eating as this will hurt your recovering AND slow down your metabolism. Eat a good amount of protein daily. Watch the bloat dissappear as fast as it came. Good luck and happy healing

like the girls have said, the weight gain in weird areas is all because you're bloated!
the next day after my surgery i weighed myself to find that i was 5 lbs more than usual. i was thinking wth, my implants are 2.5 lbs each! haha. and then the week after surgery, i was up 10 lbs! now, just about 3 weeks later, my body is just getting SLOWLY back to normal. i dont weigh as much but my stomach is still bigger than usual (and ive been eating a lot less than ever!) just give it time, you're so early!

I do think every person/body heals differently. Just like they say each breast can heal differently and at different times.
For me the worst part is EVERY morning @ 5am i feel stiff & sore (morning boob i'm guessing) and can NOT go back to sleep. My chest is so sore and stiff allllllllllll over. That is WITH taking a valium every night before bed. I forgot to put my ice packs in the freezer last night, but I was hoping that would help me go back to sleep, instead here i am..... |

You are not alone!
I too, am a slower healer, and at 3 weeks out, i'm still sore and tired, but its gotten so much better. And my boobs are not dropping at the same rate, so i'm not that intested in making a tag pic just yet...i feel a little franken-boobie yet. I just posted a tread a week or so ago about how my belly and butt were dropping and fluffing instead of my boobs....but i also know that it happens to a lot of girls, and most all of them find it comes back off pretty easily. The overs girls also have a quicker recovery time, by a decent amount. |

I'm right there will all of you!!! Guys think I look sexy, and I feel absolutely all out of balance: top heavy and soft, when I used to be flat chested and toned all over. I can't wait to work out, but I know it will make my boobs d&f slower. Arrrrghhh! I feel all your pain.

Kind of in a hurry this morning but wanted to add:
I put on 8 lbs. during BOTH my original surgery in Oct. 07 and my revision in June 08. My waist got really thick! The swelling tends to go down the body with gravity and even my thighs got bigger for a time! YUCK! My advice for that is to take a laxative first to get cleaned out and then take something like Citrucil 2 tablets a day till you are done with your pain pills and Valium. Drink LOTS of water with a lot of lemon juice in it as a natural diuretic. As far as being stiff....those are some BIG implants and the bigger the implant, the more stretching of your muscles and the more PAIN! (I had 350cc and it took me quite a while). My doctor gave me some muscle relaxers and this REALLY helped to loosen up my tightness. Your implants have caused muscle tightness and that has in turn caused you to move differently and become "stiff". It seems like one muscle injured causes a snowball effect, kwim? Are you massaging? If not, maybe ask your Dr. if you should be? If you are not supposed to, even massaging in the armpit, away from the implant pocket, seemed to feel good to me. Additionally, massaging way up high under the clavical (sp?) area (away from the implant) felt good. I was soooooo tight! I was SUPPOSED to massage so I massaged my boobs too, but I got these other areas in addition. I pretty much was massaging myself all the time! ![]() Best wishes and I hope you loosen up soon! I hope you feel better soon. I am sure you will be snapping awesome bikini pics soon!

Ok this makes me feel less worried. I have a post op tommarow and im gnna explain all this to my doctor, i think i need a muscle relaxer. And i am NOT going to the restroom regularly, so i will take your guys' advice and go get a laxative. AND i realized that since my BA i stopped drinking as much water. Usually i would drink at least a gallon of water before the gym, and then 2.5 water bottles at the gym in the evening. And not im barely drinking 3 water bottles the whole day. I think i was just panicing. I've never been such a wimp in my life! Now i know i dont handle plastic surgery very well! ha... i guess i can let go of my dream of getting my thighs lipo'd, lol. Ill jus work harder at the gym after allllll this is over!

This is all natural. Your "gained weight" is just bloating. It will go away after 2 weeks. Your muscles are just sore and tight. You should see a slow improvement each day. As far are your boob not really on bottom, it will slowly shape.
Biggest advice................just take 1 day at a time. Slowly you will feel better, your girls will look better and you will be happy with your results. I personally had a good and speedy recovery but everyone's body and healing time can differ. Just keep your head up and focus on something else......don't obsess about your boobs all day! REmember a BA does have ups and downs. Recovery can be emotional! BIG HUGS!! |
