Angry So I'm two weeks post op and I can't take it anymore

I'm supposed to be on "light duty" for 2 more weeks. No heavy lifting, vacuuming, carrying laundry baskets etc. However with four kids that is impossible! I have been picking up my almost 2 year old all day. I had to get school supplies. Loading my grocery bags into the car. My kids have been a nightmare alllllllllllllllllllllllll day! I can feel like some pulling in my muscles in the side by my side boob & some near my incisions. It is not pain, but a slight discomfort for a second or two. Has anyone else had to go back to "regular duty" right away w/o problems.

p.s. i feel great otherwise. you would not know i just had surgery 2 weeks ago. no pain pills etc. i feel like i could go back to regular duty, just afraid something going wrong at only 2 weeks out.

I started back with housework just a few days after because I was going crazy and needed to do something. You can do most things, except lift, so just take your time and also give yourself more resting time. Take naps because you will tire out easier.

NO LIFTING though. Your body will tell you when you have done too much.

Make your kids help you!!!!!!

That should be a no, no for you!! Is it possible for you to shop online or get the groceries delivered? Maybe ask the shop assistants to load your car? At least put less in each bag!!

I know what it's like to have to look after the kids, (but mine are all grown up now), but you do have to try & take it easier. You have paid a lot of money for this, you don't want to go hurting yourself. A little 'emotional blackmail' for a couple of weeks won't hurt - "mummy has sore arms, would you help me, please?"

Or just rest as much as you can, when you can.

Yeah, man!! Put those kidz to work!! They can fold clothes (if you can handle sloppy : ) and put them in the right rooms even vacuum if you let them. Take it easy but I think you have the sense to know when to quit. You're doing great! I gave in and bought one of those little $20 Bissell vacs and the kids FIGHT over it. My floors stay clean! Lol!

Being on light duty is not easy to do, especially when you have a family with needs and everyone is pulling you in different directions. And sometimes we can make ourselves nuts by trying to maintain a standard of living as if we had not just undergone major surgery. Is it possible for your husband to step up to the plate and help you out with groceries, cleaning, and keeping the kids in line? I tried grocery shopping today but I took my son with me and boy was I glad I did. It was my first day out of the house and I didnt think I was doing too much but almost as soon as I got in the grocery store I started getting a firing pain in my right boob that just got worse and worse. I finally had to leave without getting everything I needed and my son ended up loading/unloading the car and putting everything away while I went straight back to bed and doubled up on my ES Tylenol.

The pain went away but now I'm worried about going back to work in 2 days. My job involves carrying a rifle and 25 lbs of ammo around all day. Plus I have to push/pull my way through very heavy steal doors that are sometimes pressurized and very hard to open. My PS told me I would be good to go back to work after 2 weeks, but after the grocery store trip I'm almost afraid to even try it. I might have to ask him to write me up a slip for more time off just so I dont hurt my boobies.

Ask you DH and kids to help you out more until you feel healthy again. And thank them everyday (or bribe them) for being so wonderful to you when you need it the most. GL

my kids have been very helpful so far. however today was a joke. school starts in 9 days and i had lunch w/ my friend from high school. my kids were "not so good" then. i had an hour or so to kill before DS had a doctor apt. so i decided we could get a jump on the school supplies. DD (almost 2) would have nothing of sitting in the cart. she was screaming & throwing a fit. by the time i got to the car i picked her up, had the boys buckle her while i threw the bags in the car & 6 capri suns. then i drop the younger 3 off at SIL's (carrying DD into the house who is still screaming & kicking) so i can take oldest DS to doctor. back to SIL's to get kids. and of course DD does NOT want to leave. pick her up (kicking & screaming) and get home. get her out of car (pick her up & put her in crib) kicking & screaming & down for a nap. i did have all three DS's carry in todays loot, but i'm TIRED!

p.s. DH is a firefighter. on 24 off 48. plus he has to be on call. MIL is out of town & my mom works. today of course DH is on call, which means he can not have any responsibility w/ the kids in case there would be a call. so it's all ME!

I'm so sorry things were so crazy for you today. I hope you were able to take a nap when your baby did. Maybe you can get to bed early tonight? Or how about hiring a sitter for a couple hours to help you with the kids so you can get much needed rest? I really feel for you. I know first hand how hard it is to do EVERYTHING for EVERYONE with little to no help. Hang in there girl. And when the DH gets back home let him take over. Being on-call means he needs to leave ASAP "if needed", its not a get-out-of-helping free card. GL and sweet dreams.

I have a 6 month old (5 months at time of surgery) and I am a stay at home mom. I was able to take one week off, but then had to lift her after hubby went to work (she is 20lbs) This is NOT recommended, in fact, the longer you can rest the better, I just had no choice. I currently have no problems per se. But my muscles are still tight because of all the lifting and my implants havent fully dropped because I havent had a chance to let them "heal". SO I am thinking my healing is being prolonged because of it, BUT at the current moment, I have no complications.....

I totally understand when you have one of those days!! I got my 3 yrs old train where he knows mommy is NOT/Can't pick him up so he'll ask in the sweetest voice "Your boobies hurt mommy, you can't pick me up yet?" And my two girls have been really good (6yrs/8yrs) but I am sooo ready for them to go back to school on Wednesday!! lol. I'm sure they're ready too b/c since the surgery I seriously have locked everybody up inside the house b/c I DID NOT want to have one of those days you just mention where my toddler is screaming in Target or something or running off and I would HAVE to try to pick him up...no way...so poor kids have been Quarantined inside and I send DH out to get groceries or anything we need when he gets home!!! (Plus I'm really spoil, I still make him give me a shower/help me wash my hair etc...lol...he really is a sweetie!) But I am such a type "B" personlity though, so all this "relaxing/resting try not to do much" is RIGHT UP my alley!!! lol.

I am so glad you posted this because I am in the same boat. I probably only took it easy for 2 days and on the third day I was back driving my 4WD and doing errands like groceries etc because nobody really helped me. Again today I was lifting bags of groceries with my right arm and I now feel a slight sharp pain in that right breast. I am hoping it is nothing major to worry about. I simply can't rest with three kids and a husband who works around the clock. Also my Mother is not a very big help. I would love to rest but the reality for me is that I have no help. It sucks but I knew this going into the surgery.

wow I am sorry that it is so hard for you! I know its easier to say take it easy - when youŽve got kids I know after my caesarean births I was the same - you can only hope that you dont bust anything! If you were closer IŽd say bring them over to my house cos all the other neighbours kids are here but Illinois to Germany is a little too far!

or/ you can let them do there own thing and let them totally wreck the place and then in a coupla weeks you can spend the rest of your life cleaning up after them - nearly as stupid advice as telling a mother to take it easy isnŽt it?

You waited TOOOOOOOO long to mess anything up mama!! Try to take it easy! As a mom, you know what mess is there today - you will clean it up -- to have it back tomorrow!! I am a total neat freak so I can only imagine how tough it will be but dont mess up those perky new boobies!!
Also - many grocery stores will help you load the car, all you have to do is ask at the front desk.
Take it easy!!! Keep 'em perky!
