Recovery process is different for everyone, unfortunately gf. I am sorry you are having a rough go. But you just had your surgery yes? so swelling, brusing and pain is all normal.. just follow your prescriptions and take your pain meds, every 4 hours. stay on top your pain meds, even set your alarm when its sleep time, so you'll wake up and take them.. so you stay ahead of the pain. Ice your girls and drink plenty of fluids.. It'll get better.. just stay positive!!! Keep us posted gf!! and boobie-congrats!! Although I know right now you are not loving the situation.. it DOES get better!!!! Keep your head up!
oh and right after surgery, I was NOT able to lift my arms for awhile, and I had a crease incision!! Plenty of gals here had the arm pit incision though, I'm sure they will chime in!!!

Yes you are going to be very sore for a few days. Try not to lift your arms up if you can help it. For me, sleeping upright was the most comfortable position because it meant that I didn't have to move up too far when I needed to go to the bathroom and it just felt better w/ my chest area. I also had two pillow for my arms to rest on - you'll just have to try out different things because everyone is different. ICE, ICE, ICE will also help - it was my saving grace! Hang in there! Don't worry about the bruising and swelling - that's normal... not sure about the hole - I had steri-strips over my incisions so I couldn't see them. The implants will also move down too in due time - they seem pretty high in the beginning - but they change over time. Hope you are feeling better real soon! It took me a few days - like after day 4 - I was much better. Just take it easy and stay on top of your meds and ICE!!!!

I am not a doctor, but based on my recovery experience, all sounds normal. I only said normal, not confortable or fun. I promise after the 4th/5th day it really starts to get better. Just hang in there.

It's all normal sweetie!! Just breathe, relax and stay in bed. It's painful for a few days so stay on top of your meds and believe me you'll sleep if you're tired enough (which your body will be after surgery.) Stay upright on 3 or 4 pillows and try to stay calm and focused on your healing.

Hi, Elizabeth. It sounds pretty normal to me. I just had my BA yesterday and my breasts are not looking pretty yet, but the PS thinks they're healing well (although one is more swollen than the other and the nipples are currently lower than they will be)
I'm still taking vicodin and valium and am trying to both rest and get up and walk around. I can lift my arms over my head (changed into some shirts just to try) but that still makes me sore so I didn't do it too much. It will get better! Hang in there! |

All sounds normal to me.....not fun at all though. I had trouble getting a deep breath at first, and the recovery nurses told me to breathe deep through the pain (ha! lol). It does get better though...it's just a process. Everyone recovers at a different pace, listen to your body, your PS, and don't rush yourself...

First and foremost I feel your pain. I am 2 weeks post-op and by the sound of it you're in full-swing recovery. At least you have Vicodin on hand! I had to leave my surgi-center on just Tylenol 3 and everytime my b/f hit a pothole (going 5 mph with hazard lights on and all) I was whimpering. I took my meds probably every 3 to 3.5 hours as soon as I got the prescription filled (eat something). As far as lifting my arms that was a no-go on day 1 and probably day 2/3. I was kinda holding my boobs up when I walked to the bathroom lol. That's as much movement as I could stand. I had some bruising but in a few days time it will fade, so dont worry. I also had the hard to breath feeling, like a bear was hugging me! That went away in about 5 days I think, but you'll still get tightness in your chest. I think they call it morning boob. You're gonna be okay, just rest/sleep and before you know it you're gonna feel
G-R-E-A-T! And btw...CONGRATULATIONS!!! |
