Aloha!
I got new boobs on 12 Aug. I still have a little pain once a while but I'm getting better. My doctor told me to do gentle massage, up/down and right/left and squish. I've doing really gentle and just curious is this okay or should I do something else too? Lots people said it may take 4 wks to have soft boobs though. Mine is getting a little soft but stil like a balls and still kinda big for me. I wanted to have full C but it seems like full D! I've never have huge boobs and it seems little weired. Looks really fake boobs. I know it will take time.. My BF will be back from training sometime next month and I wanna show him my new soft boobs! I haven't see him over 1 month now... Okay, back to my subject... anyone tell me how do you massage and how often? Mahalo & Have a great weekend!! |

Okay so I was going to put the same post up but then I read yours and I was all like "Ok, I'm just going to wait and see what others say".
I went to my Post-Op today and my PS taught me how to massage for the 1st time. OUCH! It kinda hurt but then felt so good. ahaha. This is what he told me... Squeeze my boobs together, they have to be touching, and leave them there like that for a couple of seconds then slowly release them. NEXT Take one boob and lift it with the palm of your hand and push it horizontally towards your collar bone and leave it like that for a couple of seconds then release slowly. He told me to do it every hour everyday until forever, lol. But then he also said that if you're doing it and it doesn't hurt, you're not doing it right. So that's what I'm confused about because I came home to do it and it didn't hurt when I did it. I mean it felt uncomfortable, but it didn't hurt. So now I'm thinking I'm not doing it right. So now I also need to know what I'm doing wrong? So if anyone knows, let US know.... Oh and 1 more thing, I was reading about massaging, and it said not to "massage bruises" yet I have some on my left boob & my PS told me too...confused?? |

At my one week post-op my PS's nurse instructed me to massage twice a day. She told me to do the "pinch and move" from bottom to top and top to bottom at least 10 times at each interval and to increase as my boobs got less sore. I have been doing this and from side to side since then (about 10 days) and the soreness has yet to abate. In effect, I am doing the pinching and compression excercises twice a day. I did find that I needed to do it pre-lotion though because the lotion was keeping me from getting a good grip. Right now, it still hurts but I keep at it though!

Hi Nuby. Thanks!
I guess I'm doing same as your massage. It has been only 12 days so, I have to wait to see what happen later. It still hurts but not too bad anymore, except in the morning, my boobs is a little hard though. I just find out my BF will be back middle of Sept and I have still 3 wks more to do massage myself & make a little softer than now. I hope. Thanks again! |

MY Ps Said, that as long as you can see the implant moving, you are doing it right! I guess the trick is to keep it moving, to just furthermore reduce the chances of it creating scar tissue around the capsule etc etc
Every PS is different though. |

I mean mine are still up to my collarbone hah, but I mean jus so long as you can see it moving at all, is what I was told. I push my implant up from the bottom until I see it an then squish up, like an up and down motion. I do this for both like 4 times a day.
What did your PS tell you? |

My ps said you don't have to massage real hard, but just keep moving them around; he said side to side, up and down, then knead with your knuckles all over. I do some other ones too, like the compression one, and do it as often as I can throughout the day. I'm pretty used to it and it doesn't hurt.

so even if i cant get the crazy range of motion i see in soem photos, as long as i can squish mine together and push on them im ok? i feel them expanding like when i lay on them, anything to get the pocket stretched. doesnt help i have no skin so its still tight too.

My surgeon really got in there when he showed me. It's different with every surgeon because each one creates the pocket differently and has their own reasons for doing things.
I've doing some compression with my hands, and kneading in circles around the nipples. It's sore for the first min or so, then loosens up.

My PS said to push in on the bottom so the implant slides up in the pocket and that i should push in hard enough that i can feel my ribs *ouch
And then to pinch the bottom to slide the implant up. He said it would hurt at first but that eventually I wont feel any pain. He also said to hold it each time for 30 seconds and to do it 4 times a day for the first 8 months, and then i can stop. I know that in the beginning I winced from pain when i did the massage but now it doesnt bother me at all, and it feels great actually and I think its really helping things to move along in the healing process

They are all different. Some swear by massage and some tell folks NOT to do it at all. As you can see by our posts even the PSs that like massage have varying instructions. Your best bet is a quick call to your PS to make sure. The date to start also changes - some start the day after surgery (so glad I was not one of those, I cannot even imagine the pain) and some as much as a month later from what I have read here. It could be that your PS does not encourage massage, he could believe in starting later, and he could have just missed it. Any way you slice it, the best choice is to contact his office! Let us know what you find out!

i was told to massage at least 3 times a day but more would be better - moving the implant using the palms of your hands pushing down, left, right and up to the collar bone holding it there for 10 sec or more. hth....

I've always found this video on massage to be quite interesting. Once on the page, click on "Video: Post Breast Augmentation Surgery, Implant Massage Techniques"
