When can I lift my 30 pound baby?
He is one and a half and it has been two weeks... can I lift him yet??
I dont want to damage anything but I miss lifting and holding him sooo much! Help ![]() MY PS told me two weeks. Then at 2 weeks the NURSE told me two more weeks "just in case" she must not have children

I started lifting my daughter who is 30 pounds after my 10 day checkup! I just couldn't stand it any longer. He didn't tell me not to but he didn't tell me I could either. I usually just bend down and she grabs ahold of my neck so I put my arms around her butt and lift. Good luck!

I started picking my almost 30 lb. daughter up a couple days before my two-week appt. The nurse said he probably didn't want me to do that, but my ps said some things can't be helped (very logical thinking!). Anyway, I just did what felt comfortable and I didn't push it. Just did it when I had to. The part that was most uncomfortable when I started picking her up was her squashing my chest. A little bit of pain, but mostly just uncomfortable, but I knew I wasn't hurting anything. Now I'm three weeks post op and I'm picking her up almost as much as I did before w/no problems. It's hard to say on this situation, because I wanna say do what your ps tells you, but I really wouldn't think it would hurt anything as long as it's not hurting you and you don't over-do it. HTH!!!

I lifter my baby about 30 pounds as well about 8 days after, limited, I just was careful and lifted her very little at first and worked my way up. You are a great judge of your won body, i believe in following ps's insruction but I did what I needed (could) do. Good Luck

I started at two weeks, I was paranoid at first and it was tender but ok. You know your body, and you will know when you have done it too much in a day cause they will be sore or achy at the end of the day.(i did this).
I just had my one month check up and my PS cleared me for everything, he said I could do Thai boxing if I wanted. LOL. |

My PS said 2 weeks, they would give me clearence, however preferred if I would wait 3 weeks to give that extra week for internal incision healing... If you are unsure, you double check with your PS, not the nurse for extra reassurance.. and than start off slowly.. no sudden movements.. because even if its only been 2 weeks.. you gotta give your muscles time to get used to the normal activity again..
I too, have about a 30 lb toddler.. so I know how hard it is to not get to cuddle and hold him.. but all in good time!! Check with your PS!! even though I'm sure the nurse is good as well, this is the PS's call. JMO.

My PS made me wait 4 weeks. But, I had a lift as well. I would have my DH or my older kids put my little boy(he was 3) in my lap or have him crawl up next to me, until I could lift him. The main thing is to go easy and it it hurts stop!

I totally understand how you feel. My PS said nothing over 10 lbs for 6 wks. I'm dying b/c I have a 25 lb boy and when he says "up" and I can't pick him up, it just kills me. I'm only 11 days out since surgery and it's getting really difficult... I feel fine, but don't want to hurt myself either!

I just lifted my son tonight who is 25 lbs and I'm only 5 days post op. I felt a little pop inside and I'm wondering if it was a stitch, I hope everything will be okay...

My PS said nothing over 10lbs for 4wks..I have picked up my daughter a few times and she is just around 32lbs, but I was very careful...I just don't over do anything..I know when I do things I can still feel the pull in my chest, so I am just cautious still.

I picked up my 31 lb toddler abt 7 days aftr my surgery. They told me 4 weeks, but if i had to to lift her with my legs and not my arms. I agree the smooshing was a bit painful. I had to lift her into her cr seat since i was alone and it hurt like hell. She was having a melt down and was crying so i screamed bc it hurt. She cried more, but not as much as I wanted to. More just pain than something happening.

Thanks for the great post. Very useful as I have two girls ages 2/12 and 14mo. It would be impossible to wait 4wks. I am hoping to last at least 10 days.

My little boys are already noticing that I'm not picking them up, when I reach for his hand to guide him he does the little rag doll routine and lays in the floor. This is so frustrating for a mom! I'm sure it will be seem like no big deal once it all passes in a few weeks...I hope I can make it till then
