I drove 2.5 hours to my po on day 12. It was a little awkward but I managed. I think there have been others who were driving by like day 2 or 3! They are much braver than I, or course, I didn't have any where to go until my po so it wasn't a big deal!

I just drove for the first time yesterday! I am sure I could have driven much sooner, somewhere around day 7 or so. My PS said no driving until 48 hours after you stop taking the hardcore meds. That being said, hubby and I do darn near everything together anyway, we even work very close to each other so it was really easy for me to let him take the "reins" for a while. Everyone is different, but I would say start with short distances for short lengths of time. I can't imagine trying to drive myself home the first few days after I returned to work, I was so sore by end of day.

I drove the 2nd day post op. but i wasn't on any pain pills by then....a little stiff - especially when I looked over my shoulder to change lanes or when I was turning - but not unbearable.

I drove 3 days after, but it is different for everyone. I had an awesome recovery. My PS said no driving for 2 days due to the general anesthesia. Good luck!

I started to drive 4 days after my surgery. My PS said I could as long as I was off the pain meds. It was a little uncomfortable and the seatbelt annoyed me being across my chest. I still drive with the seatbelt under my chest.

I drove on day 7, but very locally. I also felt my reflexes were shaky. On day 8, my mom drove me to the PS office to get the steri-strips removed, but I drove home. By day 10 I was much more comfortable to drive and run a few errands on my own.

Hi - I had my BA on a Wednesday and was able to drive by Saturday - not a long drive though, just to the local store! By that Monday was driving to/from work again though that first week back wiped me out...

I waited two weeks, but probably could've driven by day 10. I was really sore up until that point. I had no idea how much you use your chest muscles while driving until now!! I am still a bit tight after driving at day 17! I normally have to massage them a lot afterward to help loosen them up again.

it's recommended that you wait about 2 weeks after a surgery to drive without any major complications. keep in mind however that everyone heals differently and that if you ask your ps, they should give you a proper time frame.

I drove 2 hrs to my PO on day 3. It was do-able, but I would reccomend waiting until day 5, then you should be A-OK....your body will let you know

I drove on day 7 to my post op follow up (it was Tuesday) and from day 8-10 drove home/work (Wed-Friday). Did not drive the following weekend at all. I was so tired and it actually hurt to move my arms as well as to have the seatbelt on my boobs.

I am 5 days post-op and headed back to work tonight so I have to drive. I'm kind of worried about it. Good thing I work close by - less than 10 minutes away.

Following week after BA. But it still hurts when turning the wheel. So turning corners and backing out of the driveway are the hardest.
