Intense exercise preventing dropping?

Hi all you ladies who work out! My husband and I just ordered a training program called P90X...you may have seen it advertised on TV. Someone I know has done it and got great results...anywhoo. I am 2 and a half weeks post op and am hoping to be cleared at my 3 week post op for exercise...cause I am in need of some exercise. Can we say cellulite! I have been watching the dvds for the program and there is one work out for chest and shoulers. I am definitely going to take the advice of my PS but am just wondering if you ladies were told not to work your upper body to allow your implants to drop. I guess i am asking "If i work my chest muscles, will my implants not drop properly?

Hi girl- with most surgeons you have to wait longer to work your pecs directly. Lower body is usually 3-6 weeks, upper body toward 5-6 weeks, and with pecs they normally tell you at least a few months. This seems to be the norm from my research.

Yeah this is pretty standard, though I managed to start back up at the gym only 4.5 weeks in and I just took it a little easier than normal - it went fine.

I have been looking into the p90x program and was wondering if it is really as good as all the hype? I have been working out for a couple of weeks now, but it is still a little weird for me to work my pec's directly. Not because it hurts, it just feels weird and I have been afraid of the same thing, that if I work my pec's I won't drop as quick.

I've been thinking these same questions. I decided I'm def not going to work out my pecs directly until I am completely happy with my look (after d&f). But, what about working out your arms/shoulders? Could that effect dropping too?? My ps told me I could start upper body at four weeks which will be this Thursday, but I don't want to do it if it's going to slow the dropping process! I've been doing my abs/lower body for about a week now.

I seriously think my wakeboarding (using my chest/arm muscles) may have effected my dropping...but that's not official...just my 2 cents.

My PS said no weight training for 2 months.

I do the P90X workouts..they kick butt. My favorite is the kenpo workout- its kickboxing. They are so awesome..I feel like a million bucks after my husband and I do them!

Seriously..take it easy and don't rush your body to heal. It takes time- you'd hate to have something happen that you could have prevented!

At my one week PO my PS told me I could resume any pre-BA activity that was comfortable. He cautioned me on chest exercises... said to take it easy. Other than that, I pretty much got the green light to do anything but wear underwire bras...

I can't answer your question exactly, I haven't even had my surgery yet, but the P90X system is pretty awesome. My husband and I used to follow it, but we moved last year and he hasn't put the pull-up bar up yet. They have some pretty intense workouts!

I am 3 months PO. I was cleared to go back to lifting and running at 3 weeks PO. I wasn't quite ready to workout intensely until after 6 weeks. I started lifting chest really intensely 3 weeks ago. My did it feel uncomfortable the first few times..still does but not as bad as the first few times. I just work through it though as the discomfort will go away with time. What I feel is not pain..it feels tight and my pecs feel slightly tender.
I don't think lifting hard has affected my D&F process. My rightie is still a touch higher than my left one, but I don't think that has anything to do with lifting.
