The Bloat!
Did anyone else feel super bloated after their BA? I feel soooo bloated. I made the big mistake of stepping on the scale and discovered I put on 5lbs just after surgery. I feel like a balloon!
Anyone have any suggestions to help with the bloating? How long did it take to go away?

It is the meds & the GA. Drink ton's of water to help flush your system! & get off the meds as soon as you can.
Just think some of that 5lbs is new boobies!!!! YAY!!! Relax & give your body time! Take care. |

The bloat was pretty vicious, and it's worse because you are so inactive after your BA. It does go away though - don't make yourself feel bad with the scale!!!

Drink lots of water and stay away from the salt and refined sugars- they both will make you continue to retain water. If you had a crease incision, your upper abs are also gonna be sore, swollen, and not able to "tighten" when you stand and admire your new boobies in the mirror. All of this will improve, just more slowly than we'd like it to
![]() Congrats on your BA! Hope your recovery is quick and easy |

I was horribly bloated (7.5 lbs) and I'm a skinny girl to begin with - I looked a year pregnant! 9 days later the weight is gone (except the added boobage weight!) but tummy still sticking out. bizarre - but it happens every time i've had surgery ( appendix, ovaries etc...)..plus i was sooooo backed up from the painkillers. revolting. don't worry - it's not real weight!

I was SO bloated. It was gross looking. But its finally all come off 5 days after I stopped the pain meds and muscle relaxers and I'm actually down to exactly what I weighed before the surgery. Thank GOD! I just hate how much I feel my muscle tone has gone.

Yeah, don't even get on the scales - those numbers do not mean a thing.
The meds and GA really do a number on you but you will get back to normal. Peppermint tea can help a bit (bloating) and I also take probiotics to counterweigh the problems associated with antibiotics. Once your stomach gets back into normal mode it will get better. It is not permanent and not to worry about Just a little side effect.

Oh yes, I WAS bloated sooo bad, looked like I was pregnant just as poledancingmom_27 posted. Every time I moved, I somehow "heard" the fluid swished, also saw my belly jiggle! I know it is unsightly but it is absolutely normal for a first few days post OP and it WILL go away.
Drink lots of lots of water but DO Stay away from scale Take care & happy recovery

i am going to try and remember what all of you other ladies said about this because i just finished with my surgery today so i am preparing myself for the bloat and constipation that is sure to come. Did you avoid caffeine as well? And I know that salt is bad but i know alot of prepared foods have salt and i know ill be eating some of those because its easy and only thing i can handle making right now hehe.
