one week down . . the . . rest of my life to go

you know, i really have to say that this first week has NOT been bad at all. all the threads on "which hurt worse: c-section or ba" got me freaked out beforehand and i was prepared to suffer. for me, the pain was very minimal. it was more a feeling of discomfort and tightness than actual pain. i've had a few zingers, but they aren't that bad and if this is worse than a c-section, well i fear much less if i ever have a kid and need a c-section now!

i felt FAR worse just from taking pain medication and muscle relaxers . . i don't like taking medication at all, so this threw me for a loop. i only took my pain meds until day 2. day 3 it was strictly tylenol. and muscle relaxers only at nighttime. and aside from the day of surgery, i really didn't even have any of the stomach bloat/constipation. i feel so lucky!!!

by day 2 i was able to drive and lift my arms above my head (and wear non-button-down stuff!). even though i didn't go very far because i still felt a little shaky

day 3 i went to work. yes, the dreaded day 3, i was like "hey i feel ok, i'm gonna go to work!". i knew it was a mistake when i was driving there. i just felt woozy because of the muscle relaxer. i worked until noon, went for my massage appointment and then went home.

the rest of the week i worked full days and was fine. i'm pretty shocked actually. i wasn't even that tired. i'm a really active person, so sitting around is KILLER for me. going home after work at night and just laying on the couch has been kind of torturous. i'm not looking forward to more of the same this coming week.

my bff came to visit me this weekend. she says that i look like i've always had boobs so that is a good compliment and she is a good distraction.

so now i'm just waiting for the drop to happen. massage massage massage!!

just thought i'd put this stuff out there as another example of a not-so-terrible recovery. i can't wait to show my boyfriend next weekend - i finally go home!!

thanks again for the ladies checking up on me. i wish i could do more of that myself, but i've had minimal internet time this week! i hope all my other november girls are doing well.

smooches!

That is so great to hear that your recovery has been easy. I have my BA this week & am very worried about being in excessive pain! Thanks for giving me hope.

I did too, and the 1st C-section was way worse than the 2nd..I can't even compare a BA to a C section bc it's just much different discomfort. I would do a BA any day over ANY C-section, be it my 1st or 2nd...I wouldn't worry too much about it! Good luck and congrats!

Let me tell you, I don't know if it was the anesthesia (I had twilight) or the meds (hydrocodone/valium) but apparently even 3 days after my BA I was "drunk calling" my bff and several others that I don't remember EVER speaking to. The first 5 days are honestly all fuzzy and I couldn't tell you what happened AT ALL! I had moments where I did remember a few things..but my DH had to fill me in. He said I was acting normal and he didn't think anything of it, but I don't remember A THING!
