some post op questions!
Hey ladies, I have sobered up long enough to write out a few questions!
These drugs are kickin' my butt. Anyway, I wanted to know if any of you had a lot of pain under your armpits? Like, not in the crease of your armpit, but where your bra actually lays on your side. I bought a post-op bra that was way too small and it really killed, so I got a new one but since i've switched it's still hurting :S Anyone else getting/had pain there?Another question, today I'm allowed to take off the bra and gauze to shower woot! I'm scared though, of taking off the gauze, did it hurt when you did it? I only have gauze overtop my steri strips. Also, today is day 3 and my pain pills are making me dizzy so I'm still really sleepy all the time. I do remember to get up every two hours or so to walk around and get blood pumping, but I'm still sleeping a lot, is this ok/normal? Right now I'm going through "ack these are huge! I went too big!" did anyone else do this after surgery? I'm hoping it's swelling and that it'll go down, I don't want to Drop and fluff to gain a cup size or anything, eep! Thanks a lot for your advice everyone!

You totally sound like me after my BA. I had soooo much pain, esp under the pits. I also felt like I couldnt breathe. If my bf wasnt here with me I would not be able to get out of bed. I was taking my meds around the clock for several days and yes they make you sleepy which is good you need to rest you had major surgery. I thought I had a high pain threshold until June 3rd 2008 when I realized I did not. Muscle relaxers and percocet were my new bff's. It will pass, over the next few weeks to months you will feel all kind of strange things happening.... I also thought my boobs were way to big I spent a lot of time trying to hide them. 3 months later I thought they were too small.... I just had a pocket revision a few days ago and went from 304 to 339 and wish I went to 371, but love them anyway.... Rambling sorry...Goodluck you will be fine

Everyone's pain experience is different but it is real none the less. I would check with your PS to make sure that you should be feeling the way that you are and if there is something else you can take. As for the lack of a bowel movement there may be a gentle laxative that he/she could suggest...mine did for just in case (I didn't need it, though). Hope things progress a little better for you

glad to hear from you! I was hoping you were ok. CONGRATS on the new BIG 'UNS
![]() Don't worry, the swelling will go down quite a bit after the 2nd week. I thought I looked big too but it's all good now. Hope you're feeling ok, other than the elephant on your chest... keep icing! That's like a full time job at this stage. My underarms were super sore too. When do you see Dr V? |

I'm on Day 3 as well and cross-eyed tired from all the meds - I'm with you
![]() I guess our bodies are pulled and pushed a bit differently and we need a bit of time to shake the aches (mine are at the right incision). It will all be fine, you are just in the middle of the worst head spinning days. Hey, I'm so glad to hear you say that the boobs are not too small!! 'Too' big will normalise once the swelling goes away and you will *love* your new boobies! Hang in there! Eat more chocolate! Distract yourself and get some rest! Warmly, Bloom

You basically just told my story - the armpits are the worst aren't they? How long does that last? Please be nice and say, just one day? ha!

I was EXACTLY like that on my first few days after surgery! I'm only on my second week and things are a whole lot better. Follow all of your doc's instructions and you should be fine. The pain under the armpits is normal. I still have them and my bf has found air pockets right there. So every time he massages it, it really is sore and WEIRD feeling. The sports bra was just soooo damn uncomfortable!!! The armpit areas became so unbearable for me. I had to take a few breaks throughout the day. Trying to sleep at an upright/45 degree angle was HELL. Good gawd. I thought I had made a mistake in putting myself through so much pain. And geez, looking down at the new boobies, yeah, I think I totally went too big. All swollen. What to do...JUST REST!!!! Once things start to settle in, you will overlook all that stuff.
HTH --Noir ps. HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON!!! Pop those pain pills cuz I know I had to!

Oh this thread is heavenly. I just had my first shower and cried like a baby when the bf took off my gauze! I think it was mostly fear of pain, than actual pain.
It is SO nice to hear that other people are going through exactly what I'm going through right now! I thought I was super weird, or that having too tight of a sports bra had damaged something under my armpits. It farkin hurts, badly! But other than that, just the tight feeling is driving me nuts. Icing all the time helps too, but the pressure drives me up the wall. I try to sleep a lot ![]() I'm definitely hoping for the day to come soon that I don't feel like I have alien objects in my bra! They dont feel like mine... and it's creeping me out. I just broke down today in the whole "why did I do this to myself!" stage, ugh that sucked but it felt good to get it all out. I just got back on the boards and you all reassured me I can't wait until the swelling goes down though too jees, looking like a linebacker is NOT my thing! neither is walking around all hunched over

Just had my BA 3 days ago. I have that armpit pain your talking about. It feels like they put extra skin there and now its all swollen. I think that hurts more than the actual breast. The only thing I wish I had that you do is feeling they were too big hehe. Well hope you feel better soon and just rest.

Don't worry girl
I thought mine were big too at first. Now I just laugh because it was nothing but swelling. Now they measure about 8 inches across. I was way too sore to measure then (plus had a really gross thing where the skin on my chest wall between my breasts rose up about 1/2 inches...it was weird and SCARY!!) and bet they would have been 10's! You will definately go down and may even think later that they are small (just be happy whatever you end up thinking lol)

I am day 8/9 and still have pain under my arms.but it gets better each day! When i woke from surgery I thought Ok..these will be the perfect size..then the pressure bandage came off and i was like OMG..those things are HUGE..and i thought i went way to big..Now I am ok with my size.esp now that they are changing a bit! I was dizzy and very tired through day 7..Day 8 I am still dizzy but I've been up all day without a nap...and as of two days ago I am just taking regular tylenol..However at bedtime I may take darvocet because I wake with very stiff hard painful boobs! As for the shower..I don't have any guaze..but wow does the shower feel great
Rest up and take the pain pills when you need them! Don't let the pain get ahead of you like I did! Then it takes twice as long to get relief!
