swellinh and soreness..oh my

So, at this 1 week post-op date, I am still feeling very swollen and sore. There are times when the swelling seems to go done and then it happens to swell up again when I am up and around. Like today I tried to do some shopping to get out of the house and just the task of driving was so uncomfortable. I was in the department stores feeling intense tightness in my chest and I was extremely sore. Do you think this is happening because I am moving around? When will I get rid of this intense discomfort? OUCH!!!

It does last a few weeks. I think mine was really tight and swollen up until week 3. Hang in there it gets better each and every day.

I'm a little over a week post op and I seem to be going back and forth with the swelling as well. Today I felt really uncomfortable, like my morning boob never went away. It felt like my sports bra was digging into me all day I just switched back to one that I think is a little less snug (hopefully that will relieve some discomfort). I think I may have been pushing myself a little much this week and I was definitely stressed out the past couple of days. Could stress contribute to the swelling? Anyone have any advice?

Hope you feel better Petiteme!

I totally undertand!! I am 1 week post op and I went to the mall yesterday to do a little shopping. I started to feel so tight and so sore. I think its because I was doing too much activity and overexerting myself trying on clothes and stuff. I'm so glad I brought my meds in my purse. I ended up having to go get a little snack, sitting down for a moment at the food court and let my pain meds kick in. I was so uncomfortable and sore. I had to go out to a dinner party in the evening too. So I totally felt the aftermath when I got home and boy was I so sore this morning. I think I just need to take it easy. I get so restless just sitting at home doing nothing. But I really have to learn to just take it easy and let my body heal. Don't worry, it will get better. We just have to let the girls have their rest and give them the TLC that they need right now. Hope you feel better.

I am still considering surgery- afraid of the pain!! I found this on the net when researching recovery from breast augs...and thought I would share. How bad does it hurt??

ActiPatch is a non-drug, anti-inflammatory device that has been used for multiple medical conditions from facial surgery recovery to plantar fasciitis. It helps reduce swelling and inflammation through the use of pulsed electromagnetic fields contained in either a patch design or a loop configurations. The patch or loop devices contain a tiny circuit which is operated by a small low-voltage battery. Beneath the geometry of the circuit, a penetrating electromagnetic field or zone is created which penetrates into the tissues under the skin. The frequency of the generated signal works by decreasing intercellular fluid and inflammation in the injured site. As a result, the amount of swelling and associated pain around a surgery site is reduced and recovery is accelerated.

I first starting using ActiPatch for my own back and shoulder pains from years of long hours of surgery. It worked as well as any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication and I began to use it on my breast augmentation patients. By positioning a crescent patch over the upper medial pole of the breast (where the raised pectoralis major muscle exists) and another patch over the lateral pole of the breast (4 patches per patient), I have been equally impressed with the results. My past 25 breast augmentation patients have used it with good success. It is now part of my routinue postop breast augmentation protocol and I have each patient wear them around the clock for the first 48 hours after surgery. In most cases, patients are off pain medications within 24 hours. While I aggressively place them on an arm exercise program after surgery, which makes a big contribution to their recovery as well, the use of the ActiPatch is a simple and easy adjunct to this recovery protocol. Breast augmentation patients are extremely appreciative of any efforts made to decrease any potential pain, which is their biggest fear about breast augmentation surgery. Based on my experience with it in the breast implant patient, I can see no reason why it would not be of benefit for all kinds of breast surgery as well.

Exactly. I just want to resume my life again..of course, with boobs this time but man, this is such discomfort. I am still feeling BIG, BIG, BIG!! I have been wearing loose fleece sweatshirts to conceal until these things "settle. That is, I hope they settle a bit. I have never had boobs so perhaps I am just a bit in shock along with swollen!
