Cool Switching from Vicotin to Tylenol

Hey Ladies! For those of you who were on Vicotin and switched to Tylenol. Did you go from one to the other in one day or did you space it out some? I have had nothing but problems with the Vicotin. Immediately after my ba when I started taking Vicotin I would get extreme nausea constantly. My ps prescribed some Phenegran to go along with the Vicotin and that helped alot. Since last night and today I have been getting strong head aches and dizziness so I am getting off the Vicotin all together. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this as well and how did you feel switching from one to the other? Thanks so much ladies! By the way I am post op surgery 4 days. Thanks so much for any replys!!

I just waited the same time I would between doses of the Vicotin. Tylenol is pretty mild (you can take it when your pregnant) so I think it's fine to switch in the same day. I liked the Tylenol a lot better too. The Vicotin made me feel drunk and I had kids to watch!

I started taking Tylenol 4 days after surgery. I didnt like the pain killers I believe it was hydro (something or another lol...) they made me feel too wasted.

You should be fine to switch over. Jeez I was taking both ES vicodin and ES Tylenol for a few days (prob not recommended). Tylenol is definitely mild.

*Argh* I really don't like vicodin - it really messes with my mind and body.

I am at day 7, only on Tylenol, and it is enough to cover my pain (but pain is of course individual). I waited for my vicodin dose to lose efficiency and then instead of popping a new one took tylenol instead. At this point I am also done with antibiotics and steroids so my poor mind and body should start clearing up.
My personal choice is to get off of vicodin asap as I can. I'll even put up with some pain just to get away from the mind altering, depressive zombie state it puts me in.
Next time you need something for the pain, try taking tylenols instead. You will quickly see if your pain levels are tolerable with this milder drug.
Let us know how it goes!

Hugs,
Bloom

I agree you should be able to just switch right over to the tylenol. The most that might happen is an upset stomach from too much apap.

i only had some nausea the night of day 1, but i think i just didn't eat enough food with the meds. i switched to tylenol on day 3 and just took it every 4 hours. and i was fine! i wasn't really in pain . . everything was just tight.

Well I have been off Vicotin for a full 24 hours. Last night was completely terrible! I had naseua all night. I would wake up and then fall back asleep while being very sick to my stomach. I took some Milk of Magnesia and that did help some. When I got up this morning my boobs were super super hard ( must be morning boob) and I was naseua's. And all morning I have been super dizzy, light headed, and with an upset stomach off and on. Is this just possible side effects of the Vicotin leaving my body? I noticed I am not quite as bloated either. Sitll pretty bloated but a bit better. Thanks Ladies for any ifno you have. This is pretty foreign to me and I am so wanting to get back to normal!!

Oh, you are most definitely experiencing morning boob! That lasted quite a while for me, but it tended to loosen up more quickly as I healed. I remember being super stiff and tight when I woke up.

Have you tried Tylenol PM at night? That was a life saver for me.

I didn't experience the nausea you are describing, so I'm not sure what to say about that. Are you able to eat at all?
