For those who used Arnica and/or Bromelein

I was given a list of things that are helpful after surgery from my PS. On that list was Arnica and Bromelein. I was wondering if any of you have used either one with success. Also did you use the Arnica gel or tablets?

Thanks!!

I started Arnica tablets three days before surgery and continue them now. I have minimal bruising from my surgeries! I also use the gel on my back since that seems to be the bigger of my problems right now! I LOVE Arnica! If you use the gel, just be sure to not put it on any open wounds!

Thumbs up

Hey there! I actually learned about Arnica here and then asked my PS about it, they said I read their mind! They would have given me some anyway.. but they said to start it the day before (I may start today just because it can't hurt)...

I have the Arnica Montana tablets to put under your tongue. Even the guy at GNC said "WOW you must have a great doctor because most doctors don't know about this for post-surgery!" Of course Ididn't tell him what I was having done, jsut told him some "friends" advised me

GOOD LUCK!!!

PS, Bromelain is apparently in Pineapple juice.. so I just bought a ton of it and plan on drinking it during recovery

I asked the doc for Arnica Montana and they gave me the ones where you dissolve them under your tongue. Made by Boiron.

What really is awesome is the Bromelain, which can be found in pineapple and papaya, I think. After surgery, I drank both juices and the bruises I did have disappeared quickly. And I tend to bruise very easily and take weeks to heal. No joke. To me, the best stuff was the combination of papaya juice and pineapple juice.

I must live in a area where noone seems to know about arnica. I asked my ps about it and he didnt say much except ..i guess.. Then i went to a major drugstore outlet and they acted like i was asking for some new drug or something. Maybe i will go to a health food store maybe they can help me out more.

I used both prior to surgery and after. I have very little brusing and hardly no swelling. I took the arnica pills that dissolved under the tongue.

I was given Arnica Montana (a Brauer product) by my surgeon. He has a lot of faith in them. So do I. I had slight yellowing at the bottom of my breasts that lasted only a couple of days. Swelling went down quite fast. By the end of the first week my boobs were softening up. I am day 14 today and my new girls are soft with no signs of swelling. I started Arnica the day before surgery and have just finished taking them today. It was recommended to me to take them for 2 weeks post op.

Hello darling!

My PS provided and insisted I used the Bromelain and arnica. I started the Bromelain three days before and continued until it was gone (about 7 days) and the arnica pills which you take 3 pills sublingual 3 times a day from surgery day and I'm still taking them.

I did not get one bruise and minimal swelling the second day. I had an easy recovery with hardly any pain after day three and I think a lot of it was due to these supplements. I see them prescribed at the hospital where I work a lot and remember learning about them in nursing school.

Either way, something has to be right since so many doctors insist on you taking them or recommend them. And by the way, if you google them on the internet, there are brands that aren't as good. The more natural (and sometimes more expensive) are better because they are better supervised. Generic ones at grocery stores, etc. aren't checked and the majority in the bottle are simply low concentration or placebos. Same with multivitamins. Its simply because none are FDA approved by the government.

Best of luck!!!
