bras
I am 6 days post op and how long did you have to wear the surgical bra or sports after your surgery. When can I stop wearing a bra at all like at night? Lori

when the ps took my bandages off (about a week post-op) he said i could wear anything i want, even underwire bras. i don't know if it was a good thing since i might be bottoming out. i completely trust my ps though, so i'll know what's going on next tuesday.
Congrats on your new breasts, and get lots of rest !!!

Mine wanted me to wear the surgical bra for a week. After that I could switch to a regular bra. I had to wait for 6 weeks to wear an underwire.

After my 1 week PO check my PS said I could wear anything with support. I'm in a sports bra most of the time. I find that "the twins" are most comfy with a bit of compression on them. Too much freedom and they start to get uncomfortable. I'm actually still sleeping in my surgical bra.
It really does get better day by day...the ladies on this forum give such great advice!

I had to wear a sport bra 24/7 for the first month PO. After that, I could wear anything. I still wear a sports bra to bed though. Its a comfort thing tho, not dr's orders.

Each PS is different, I had unders, areola incision and I had to wear the surgical bra 2 weeks 24/7. I was cleared to wear whatever I wanted after that point. I've been wearing a bralet to sleep at nights though, it just feels more comfy and gives some support.

You should go with what your PS says.
I couldn't wear anything for the first month. |

I had to wear my surgical bra for the first 4 days. After that I was free to wear anything that didn't have to much support and I was no longer required to wear a bra at night either. Each ps is differnt so I would check to see what you should do. ~Shelly~

This is one of those things that varies widely with each PS having their own thing. I'm still pre-BA, but the nurse said wear the surgical bra for 3 weeks, and then when you feel you've dropped to where you want you can wear underwires.

I was put in a bra in the recovery room and given a spare and I have to wear it 24/7 for 4 weeks, then during the day only for another 4 weeks, then I'm good to go. I definitely feel better with one on, even though the pressure of the elastic is a bit hard to take sometimes. It's really just a sports bra, but gives lots of support.
