Sleeping flatter,
Hi guys,
I'm one day shy of being 1 full month post-op. I've been propping myself up with pillows at an agle all this time but last night i decided to sleep a lot flatter and when i got up my boobs were more sore than when i slept at about a 50-45 degree angle. The soreness went away quick though. Do you guys know if its ok to sleep flat like this now, should i continue to prop myself up so my boobs heel better? FYI I also had Breast lift and Augmentation. Thanks guys. j |

I am about one month post op as well!
I've been sleeping flatter since around 2 weeks post op and my ps said that was fine. My morning boob isn't as bad anymore, but not sure if that's related to the angle in which I sleep. I really just want to be able to sleep on my side without a bra!! Hopefully soon...

I'm just 2 weeks PO and for the last couple nights have done a few hours or more flat with an occassional trip to the side (man it felt good to sleep on my side, although my PS said not to). The morning boob is pretty mild at this point and goes away within a couple minutes.
Still wearing surgical bra to sleep in to keep the twins nice and cozy and protected. I can't wait for normal sleep again...although I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat!!!! |

I think it should be okay to sleep flat at this point. My ps said to try to sleep on my back for the first week and then go to whatever is comfy. I have been sleeping on my side since and it feels SOOOO good!! Best of luck. ~Shelly~

Oh Hon, it should be more then ok to sleep flat now. Sleeping or resting slightly upright was to help with the swelling. Help it to migrate downward and away from the breast. Most time to the tummy area. One of the reasons we look bloated soon after surgery. It is still possible that you might have some small amt of swelling hence what we call morning boob. Once you get up and about it should subside. Eventually it will all go away. May take some time getting use to the morning boob, but no worry, it's all normal.

Jralva, thanks for posting this thread and to all of you for your answers. This is exactly the question I was going to ask. At only 4 days I am already so sick of sleeping propped up and it's so uncomfortable, and hurting my back. I had a little tantrum in the middle of the night last night and threw all my pillows to the floor and tried to sleep flat but it was a dismal failure - my boobs hurt unbelievably, and I had to be helped upright again like a beached whale! My PS said I should try and sleep on my side after just a couple of days but I just don't see how it's possible. It's heartening to know that some of you are sleeping flat (ish) at 15 days, and comforting to know that I'm not on my own.

I had a lift and BA also. I was instructed to sleep propped up on my back for the first week, but kept rolling to my side anyway. Instructions or not, I sleep so deep that I have no control over how I end up in the morning. The first few weeks totally suck, but it gets better (the past week has been tons better!!)
I highly suggest a body pillow to hug or use for positioning...couldn't live without mine!

wow...i only lasted 3 days of sleeping propped up and even then it was like a 80 degree angle...
i think sleeping on your back creates mnore morning boob but that goes away after a while...
