steri strips
I am 9 days post op. I still have to wear my steri strips. How long did you guys have to wear them? My incisions still hurt especially my right side. It mainly stings. My PS surgeon said I did not have to massage. Did any of you not have to massage? Lori

Mine said to wear them until they came off on their own. I think mine started coming off 2-3 weeks.

I had a 2 week post-op appt. where my PS took off my steri-strips. I remember the areas around my incisions hurting too. I would get weird pangs and like zips of pain. Sometimes a dull ache that would last for 30 min or so then go away. Its all normal though as your body tries to heal itself.
My PS also did not give me instructions to massage. He wasnt against it per se, but wasnt convinced of the benefits of it. Plus he felt it wasnt necesary since I had unders. |

I had my steri strips until about week 2 and my ps had to remove them. I'm still massaging and I think it really helps! But you need to follow your ps instructions! Welcome to

My strips stayed on until after 3 weeks...when I saw the PS he removed them...they seemed to want to stay...I was told to massage at my 10th day...I think it helps me feel better. I find the pec muscle relaxes more with massage but I am a physical therapist & feel very comfortable with massaging muscles...I also move the implant around like instructed. With that said you should follow with your PS's recommendation. Each doc is different. He probably isn't against massaging but doesn't feel it is necessary...just ask again if you feel you want to move them around...

I did not end up with those strips. I was glued instead therefore I never had to worry about that. I did however have previous surgeries and with those I had to let them come off on their own. As for massaging, yes I do. Ps said to try to massage at least 5 times a day. It does help them feel softer. Each and every ps is different though. ~Shelly~

I am 4 days after my BA. I still have the strips on.. Have a PO apt monday. they should come off then. And I was not told to massage at all... All PS's differ and they all know what works best with their method of op.

Congrats on your new girls! My steri strips stayed on for 2 wks. I was told to shower at 2 wks and very carefully remove them if they loosened from the moisture. (It sucked going 2 wks without a shower!) I began massaging the day after surgery, but every PS is different so do what your doc recommends. Take care & hang in there - the soreness will get better before you know it!

I am 4 days post-op and my strips will stay on until at least my first post-op appt which is next Friday - so at 10 days post-op. My PS uses internal dissolvable stitches but leaves the final knot on the outside or it takes a really long time to dissolve, and she will cut off the knots at that appt so I'm guessing will have to take the strips off then. I don't know if she will put more tape on. I am wearing a sports bra 24/7 as instructed and can't imagine putting the elastic over the incisions without any tape. I'd leave yours on until the surgeon takes them off or they fall off. My PS said that scars like pressure and that the surgical tape also helps make them thinner.
For the first day or so it was along the breastbone that hurt the most, where the muscle has been cut, but now it is the incisions. Sharp pains like those you describe. My PS is not particularly fussed about massage, but I think I'll do it anyway, just not yet! Too sore and tight! I had my first shower at 2 days. I was told it was ok to shower and just dry the strips with a hairdryer afterwards, which is what I've been doing. |

I had my steri strips on for about 2 weeks. I didn't have to massage either. Happy healing!
