Do any of you apply mederma on your incisions? I still have steri srips but I was wondering about when I get them off, if I could put the mederma on the incisions. Lori

I was told that once my incisions healed that I could use anything I wanted on them. My ps gave me a silicone strip made by biodermis to put on them, 12 hours a day for 2-3 months. It is supposed to aid in concealing my scarring. Never heard of this before though so I don't know how good it works yet. lol I would check with your ps to be sure. Hope this helps. ~Shelly~

Just make sure you're cleared from your PS. Some don't like applying anything for 4 weeks.
I've been using Mederma and can't say that it's helped much. I might switch to the silicone sheets soon though... even though my incisions are still looking pretty good. I just want them gone. |

It's too early for me, only 4 days post-op, but I already have a little selection of scar treatments ready to go. I have bought Mederma, bio-oil, rosehip oil, and Palmer's scar serum. My PS also gave me some vit C cream. I'll try them all out I guess! I haven't had any advice from my PS yet about when to start with any of them, but will have to wait til the incisions have completely healed of course. I got a brochure with the Mederma and it said with new scars from surgery it would take about 3 months of therapy for the scars to improve noticeably.

Be sure to check with your ps. I used Mederma on another scar and I had a reaction to it. So I didn't use it after my ba.

i heard that Mederma doesnt work too well. On the recommendation of the ladies here i started using the Neosporin Scar sheets and they work really well...i've already noticed a big difference since i started using them...
