![]() | Compression Bra?? Ace Bandage??
So my doctor didn't wrap me up after surgery, all he put on me was the strap above my breasts, is that normal?? He gave me a bra, but didn't give me instructions as to when to wear it. I've found that I hate the bra because it cuts into me and irritates my incisions, so I've just wrapped myself with an ace bandage, but for the first two days I was wearing nothing but the top strap. Is this normal?? |

Not all surgeons want you to compress your breasts. You should probably call your and see what he wants because if he only gave you a top bandeau he might not want you to be wrapping them up in an ace wrap. You wouldn't want to go messing up your new investment. It is best to not do anything without asking first. Every plastic surgeon is different, does the surgery different, so some will have you wrapped up tight, others not, some want you to massage, others, don't. Good Luck! Quote:

I was sent home wearing nothing after surgery, and I stayed that way for three days. I was then given an ace bandage strap and wore it alone for almost three weeks. I was given the okay to wear a wireless bra after 1 month.

All I had was the compression bra from day 1. No bandages, no strap. All plastic surgeon are different. He'll tell you what to do when.

I had on a surgical bra (it was not very tight...very thin and opened in the front) and a strap around the top. I wore that for a week and then my plastic surgeon said I could wear any soft wireless bra (no pushups).

I was suprised when I woke up in a front zip sports bra with no strap on the top. The day after he had me in an underwire sports bra, still no strap. I think he's going to have me massage and strapped after day 6. I guess everyone is really different.

![]() | I had the same thin, surgical bra that wasn't very tight, and it opened in the front. But no strap for me! I don't think I needed the strap because my boobs are not very high up so no need to push them farther down.

I have to wear the strap which stinks! My Surgeon wants me to wear it 24/7. I tried but that is not possible its awful! She didn't place me in a surgical bra. I would have taken that any day over the strap. I can actually feel my muscles tense up with it on. It's so uncomfortable I cant even breathe properly. I would call or e-mail your doc to get the right treatment plan. Good luck!

I wore the strap for 10 days & then at night only for another week. My plastic surgeon said only wear it if I wanted to drop further. Since I didn't have a lift, I didn't wear it after that. A sport bra for the first month then anything I wanted! Every plastic surgeon is different, every surgical procedure is different, so it's best to follow what your plastic surgeon says, only he knows how much trauma your surgery caused, and the best way to help the healing. |

I have a surgical bra that has a built in strap on the top. I was told to wear it day and night for a month. It's insane. Way uncomfortable and digs into my side. But I have been wearing a silky camisole under the bra. That has been helping out. It just sucks cause I can't wear normal shirts. I had my 1st public outing today for an hourish and I wore a sports bra. It deff felt weird w/o all the pressure, so I've decided to stop being a whiner and wear the surgical bra. I just can't wait to be able to wear a normal pretty bra. And better yet, be able to fill out the cups!!!

I had to bring an underwire sports bra with me on surgery day.. They were very strict about that. I came home in my Lily of France underwire sportbra. I had a small bandage covering my incision and that was all. Now I have more bandages because of the hematoma, but no wrap. I was instructed to wear my bra for 3 days, and then whatever bra I want in the day to follow and nothing needed at night.
