When can i sleep on my side again??!!

I had my BA a little less than a week ago and my boobs aren't sore anymore but they hurt like heck when i try to sleep on my side! I am NOT a back sleeper and its been such a pain! When will it be comfortable and safe for me to sleep on my side again?

Everyone heals differently, love. But for me it was about a month before I could sleep on my sides. Believe it or not, I slept better upright in my recliner. Give it some time and all will be well.

I was sleeping on my side around 1 month. I am almost 2 months out now and on occasion I can sleep on my stomach. But I think from sleeping on my back for a month straight, my body kind of got used to it!

yes, give it time!! i am a side-sleeper and had the same problem. it took me over a month, i believe before it was comfortable. but, i promise it does get better and you WILL be able to sleep your side again. i found it easier to sleep propped up with lots of pillows under my head and shoulders, around me and under my legs. also, as i slowly began attempting to sleep on my side again i found that putting pillows under and/or between your boobs (to support them) it helps tremendously!

good luck!

If your plastic surgeon has said it's ok for you to try sleeping on your side, then go ahead. It just takes time to get used to the new feeling of the boob there.

My plastic surgeon said I had to wait a month before sleeping on my side. And then once I did I think it took a month or two just to get used to it again. Sometimes I'd put a pair of socks between my boobs cuz they felt like one was falling on the other hehe.

Hey i'm about the same time out as you are. I still sleep mainly on my back! Still worried I'll mess up my girls if I sleep on my side and it's not as comfortable as it used to be yet. I know proping pillows on my side helped. Give that a try!

i'm 18 days post op and have started sleeping on my side again. not fully on my side though. i prop myself up with pillows and find this helps. tends to stop the lower one getting squashed on the side!

Thanks for posting this, I have been wondering the same thing! I'm 2.5 weeks out and SO sick of sleeping on my back!! I wake up stiff and sore, lol! I am also a side sleeper and was wondering when l would be able to get back to doing it. I like the idea of propping myself up on pillows and kind of laying on one side. Thanks ladies!!

I am struggling with that as well right now --- just last night I was able to get a quite comfortable with a pillow between my legs, and another under the rib cage - which kind lifted me and allowed my boob a little space with actually sleeping on it. I also reached my opposite hand around and kind of braced my self a little a couple of times.

Before than I was using sleeping pills for a couple of nights because I really needed to sleep. ;-)

I went to my one week PO appt and was given the go ahead for side sleeping. Thank God! It feels strange at first but you eventually settle right back into it. Go with what your plastic surgeon says is ok. You can always call them if your appt isn't for a while. I know how you feel!

It started being comfortable for me around week 3. I am a month out now and it's all good! I can sleep on my stomach for short periods of time too.

If you can't get comfortable fully on your side try more of a 45degree angle. Place a pillow behind your back and lay so that the pillow is supporting your wieght, but you are still on your side. SO and DH work well for this too.

I have a couple of those long body pillows that I used when I was pregnant. I was glad I kept them! They really really helped me sleep comfortably after my surgery. I'm not a back sleeper either, but it really wasn't bad with one of those on each side of me. Then when I started sleeping on my side, I put one behind my back and kinda did the 45 degree angle and that was pretty comfy too.

thank you SO much for posting this. I did pretty well with my surgery which was under a week ago. BUT...I cannot sleep for more than an hour or two at a time without waking up miserable. My poor husband has been losing sleep because I am SO fidgety...
