Angry Please help! I need a comfortable underwire

Hi Girls,
Please help. My doctor wants me in an underwire for basically 3 months (I am almost two weeks post op today) -- People on here have advised not to spend a lot of money on a bra at this point because I will change size.

Problem is -- the underwire is really hurting me -- to the point of noticeable brusing where the wire sits. I don't know if it is because I don't have much fat around my rib cage or I just have the compete wrong size or what.

I have a couple of target bras and a jockey bra -- all in 36 C. I don't really want to spend a lot of money at this point -- but if I could find a comfortable bra I probably would.

Thanks ;-)

I would definately get sized. The wire should not be painful in the correct size. Can you post some measurements? Maybe we can point you in the right direction....

If the underwire is bruising you, you probably need to go up a cup size. Victoria's Secret has some pretty comfy underwire bras. I went a week or so ago and they had some on sale 2 for $40. No padding or anything.

thanks for the great info girls.

I always assumed that the 'cup' part of the bra was mainly the material that 'catches' the boob. Am I wrong -- I am not sure I have enough to fill out a D.....i need boobs 101 -- never needed a bra before...my requirement was which one looks the least ridiculous.

Maybe I could just go to VS and tell there I want to be fitted for how I am today -- and tell them I am only looking for a cheaper bra just for the moment. If I end up wearing it long term great, if i don't I won't have dropped $50 on a bra....

What about a sports bra with an underwire? I have seen them all over, and they are cheap.

Most girls dont' have good luck at VS. Try a Macys, Nordstrom, or Dillards. They are usaully better at fitting. Ask for your true size. A lot of times VS will fit you in what ever sister size they have just to sell you a bra. Once you know your true size you can buy cheap ones at Marshalls or TJ Max.

The cup is the part that goes around your actual breast. If the wire is digging into the sides of your breast and bruising that means you need a bigger cup size. The band should be snug around your ribcage and provide most of the support, not the straps. Make sure the center gore of the bra sits flat on your chest and does not stick out. Those are some basics to start with. I hope that helps!

My doctor suggested the Bali bras. It is plain and has a little butterfly emblem in the center. I hated it for the first 2 weeks but anything hurt. Now I love it and I still wear it when I don't want a push-up.

Victoria Secret, Body by Victoria wireless IS AMAZING

Soooo comfortable, fully lined so no nipple peeking

I could seriously sleep in it! Its wonderful!

In store has most sizes, if not online carries them all. I am a 34DD and had no problem.

Hey there! Quick question concerning the BBV bra. I just bought two of them and I don't know if it is because I'm so used to wearing sports bras that squish me to death or what..... But these bras make me look huge! Do you think they make you look bigger too? I'm only a C, but still....... Nice bra though!

Have you been wearing a sports bra up til now? I noticed that the sports bra acted as a minimizer for me and kinda squished mine down. Once I started wearing real bras, they looked a lot bigger and they were separated more (no uniboob look under clothes, lol). It made quite a bit of difference!

Yes I've been stuck in a sports bra for a month! Help, I'm squished and I can't get up! Thanks for the input. I also realized that this bra has a gap between my boobies (where the bra doesn't sit against the chest but pops out in the middle)but that's probably because they aren't that soft yet? Does it do that to you too? I love the bra though.

My surgeon recommends the Le Mystere No. 9 bra. It's specifically for augmented breasts. You can get it at Nordstroms or on line at www.barenecessities.com. It's pretty and comfy.

Yeah, all the wireless bras I have tried do that. If you press down on the middle to make it touch your skin, does the cup edge come all the way around each boob? If not, then you need a bigger cup size. The first wireless bra I bought was a 36C and it was so uncomfortable. Once I realized the cup size was too small, I switched to a 34D and it made a huge difference in the comfort! You also need to make sure that the hooks are on the loosest setting. I was wearing a 36 before but I could hook it on the middle or tightest setting. With a 34, I can hook it on the loosest setting and then as the bra stretches I have 2 more settings to use to get more life out of the bra. Make sense?

Yes, that makes perfect sense! Thanks for "schoolin" me on the bra fit. It's funny how different this time around is for me! The cup size is correct, so it sounds like it's just the wireless fit. Thanks again!

VS is great about doing fittings. I went in there one day, told the lady I wasn't sure what size I was, she measured me, brought me bras to try on, and didn't pressure me to buy anything.
