Recovering and going crazy!

Hello All,

I had my BA Nov 2nd and I feel like I am getting stir crazy! I saw my doc the day after my operation and she put me in this band. I feel like I cant expand my lungs all the way. It's so restrictive and it makes me so uncomfortable. My skin feels so tight that I can feel my skin stretching every time I move. The pain has gotten much better. I do not have full strength back in my arms yet. So I still cant maneuver in bed when I am sleeping. Sorry for complaining but I'm really tired of feeling like this. I want to be back to normal. I would kill to be in a bra of some sort and not this bandeau wrap. I am getting the stitches removed Monday so until then I have to suffer. I am starting to regret that I did this to myself. I'm sorry I am feeling so aggravated! Sorry needed to vent!

I had my BA the same day! My plastic surgeon gave me valium to take every 8 hours to help witht he tightness. I have also been using the ice packs alot. I feel really good considering and have been sleeping in my own bed the last 3 nights. My plastic surgeon hasn't made me wear the strap or any bandages. I didn't even sleep in a bra last night. I just wish I could take a shower! I can't take a shower til Monday, only baths.

Hey Girls - I had my BA on Nov 3rd, and felt like crap too.

I too feel tight and sore. Not in tremendous pain, but my right side is pretty useless (and I'm right-handed). I had to stop taking my pain meds cuz they were really making me sick (very nauseous, dizzy), but the pain is bearable. Today is a tiny bit better, but I sure hope things get back to normal soon - I'm losing patience.

Oh... and I wish I could shower too. I feel so grimy. Had the DF wash my hair yesterday, but it still doesn't quite feel clean.

The price we pay for beauty...

Just a tip. I picked up some Germ-X antiseptic wipes as my local drug store (or you guys can have someone run out and pick up some now). And i used these to wipe myself down until I made it back to the plastic surgeon.
I found them in the aisle w/ all of the body washes!

Hope that's helpful! I HATED feeling grimy!

Stinks that we are all in the same boat but I'm glad we all can vent. Luckily, I am able to shower. My doc just said to try and avoid getting the sutures wet and not to face the shower head. They do get a little wet but I pat them dry with sterile gauze pads. I was also instructed to limit ice pack use and to keep the strap on 24/7. I'm trying my best keeping it on but sometimes I feel panicky and constricted and I have to undo it for a break. When does it get easier and when will we feel more like ourselves? I took a shower and did my hair to feel some type of normalcy today and it def helped! I'm going to call my mom and see if she wants to hang out with me tonight and watch movies haha! Thanks girls for being here I don't know what I would do if I couldn't vent to people who actually understand. XOXO!!

I am 3 weeks out and still a bit sore. I stopped feeling really uncomfortable about 3 days ago..so give your body some time and dont push it. Lay low, take your meds to help you relax and watch a good movie. Pretend you have the flu, your body needs to heal. Its only for a short while and then its off to Victorias Secret for you! Chin Up!

Sorry to hear about your pain med reaction. I was on Vicoden for 3 days and had to stop. I was having issues in the bathroom department. Basically not going. That was another stressor. I was going crazy and felt really bloated! The meds also made me so tired. I basically slept all day for 3 days. I am also right handed and found my right side is useless as well. I cant prop myself up in bed. I have to use my legs and abdominal muscles. I have more strength on my left side. I feel like this has been going on for months. This process is def dragging.

Hi BeanieGirl - I had the same issue in the bathroom department. I was so bloated that I couldn't even try to eat anything. Percocets made me sleep all day too... Anyways, hope you feel better soon. At least we have each other to lean on!

I am not having the bathroom issues but must be bloated somewhere because I have gained 7 pounds since before surgery! How much to 450 saline implants weigh anyways?

Girl, I think this is normal. I felt the same way.
To be honest, I didn't start to think it was worth it until I felt well enough to try on sports bras etc.
My DH thought i was going crazy because I was crying one minute and laughing the other. Once you are allowed to ditch the torture band, things will feel so much better :-)

I'm only 8 days PO so i know how ur feeling...
good luck!

I think the weight gain is the actual implant and the fluid they use during the surgery. From what I hear it will all go away not including the weight of your implant. I gained as much as 7 lbs. I am down to 3 lbs now.

I totally understand what you mean. Today I took a shower, got jeans on, did my hair, and even put on masscara. I felt almost human. I want to walk around a bit without any bra on--yeah it feels tight, but I just want to be out of the damn bra for a minute. I am off to watch Dumb and Dumber, Something about Mary, and Bedazzled .

Thanks everyone for the support. I am trying my best to deal with it. I just stinks when I don't see improvement everyday. My boobs are still tight, somewhat hard, and my left boob is numb. I hate being unable to do normal things that I usually can do. Sometimes I wish I can have theses things taken out of my body so I can be normal again. I'm feeling really regretful right now. To make matters worse I am supposed to be back at work next Tuesday night. I asked my doc many times if that is enough time and she says yes. I could not imagine myself returning to work right now. I just hope I am better by Tuesday. I'm not feeling very optimistic right now.
