Talking Painful Nipple SOLUTION!!!!

Well a lot of you have had to listen to me complain incessantly about my poor, sore nipples. They have been so bad that even my t-shirt hurts them. I have been looking for a solution (other than Vicodin) so that I could function. Well, I have it.....
My brilliant baby sister came up with a solution that really works. I had asked her what she thought I could put on them to dull the pain. I was thinking of a topical pain reliever - but could not come up with something feasable. She suggested Lidoderm patches. BRILLIANT!!!! They are by Rx only, but my mom had a ton of them for her bad back. So I cut one in fourths (2 x 2 inch squares) and taped them right over my nipples. The patch protects them from my clothing and the lidocaine in them numbs the pain. I am not 100% pain free, but it is VERY tolerable. I can function. I actually went to Wal Mart by myself and had lunch with DH. Until today, all I could do is lay around the house and feel sorry for myself.
So anyone who has this problem like I have - you might want to give this a try. Just wanted to share!!!

Mine are quite that bad, but if they get that way, I will remember this! Thanks! And so glad that you found some relief and get about with life now.

That sounds like a great idea, but I wouldn't suggest it for anyone with the areola incision. One should always check with their surgeon when using anything that might have some type of med or ointment in it.

Great!

A little relief is worth so much! Glad you found something. Mine are a bit sensitive also to the clothing rub but not that bad. So sorry for you--sometimes it's the little things that can be such a pain.

How DO you spell relief, huh? Mine are not as painful as they are sensitive and of course POINTY, POINTY, POINTY . I bought some nursing pads that I slide on the inside of bra/sports bra. They not only are confortable feeling on the one side you wear against the nipple , but the other adheres to the bra keeping it in place.

Uuuuuuuuuuugh!

My nips and areola area is really sensitive too! It hurts to wear a bra and it hurts to wear a shirt w/o a bra. The only thing that feels good is to go topless. I have to hold my seatbelt away from me while driving. I hope this passes. I'll have to ask PS about the lidocaine tomorrow. I have areola incisions. I wonder if something like anbesol would work???

I am exactly the same way. I have thought of anbesol. I might try some tomorrow. I would put (um, trying to think of something not really gross) _______ (ok, use your imagination) on them to get some relief!
I asked my PS about Emla cream which is an Rx with lidocaine in it and he kind of blew me off. Obviously he has not had nipples that were on fire.

I just use my mom's lidocaine patches during the day and they are great! Hey, I have to find a way to cope!!!
