I cried. It hit me.

Ok.. after trying to be strong and being upbeat all the time, I finally cried yesterday. I had to go to a work appt. and I was trying on my old work shirts. NONE fit me. I ended up wearing a pink sweater which made me look like an old lady. I felt really fat since my tops didn't fit. I was like "Maybe I should have stayed small."
But my lovely bf reminded me that buying new clothes was one thing I was excited about before surgery and that my new boobs actually make me look thinner. That helped. I need to clean out my closet now. It's wierd though, do I need to start buying a bigger size shirt even though the rest of my body stayed the same? I used to buy smalls, which are a size 4-6. Mediums are an 8-10, but I am not a size 8-10, I am a 4-6. I am confused.

Does anyone have any reccomendations on where to buy nice career clothes for big busts? lol I never thought I would have this problem!

Oh and to top it all off, my dad is coming to visit tomorrow. He doesn't know about the surgery yet and he is going to want to play golf and tennis and bowling.. I can't do any of that with him How did you all tell your family members?

Oh Suzie (looking hot in avatar btw), dont fret about the clothes, there's nothing standard as in what will/wont fit after a ba...just go clothes shopping, some tops stretch, some dont, some will look good/some wont....enjoy your new experiences, not worry about them...

Really sorry, but i cant help with your dad issue, i told mine in advance...didnt give them a chance to get a word in, my speech was well prepared and to the point (lovingly) so they wished me luck and that was that....good luck though xxx

Cheer up Suzie! I was sad because I WANTED to buy new clothes, and after my ba all my old clothes fit and nobody noticed any difference in me. I was really sad, feeling that all the pain and cost of getting my ba was for nothing.

But the problem was the type of clothes I used to wear to hide my extra pounds and my lack of boobs. I bought some new tight sexy tops and now I look and feel a lot better. So cheer up! - Do some shopping - trust me, you'll feel a lot better.

Hi Sweetie...I can totally relate to your clothes problem! I have found that, for work, (and because I'm having to stuff one breast due to explant--so I'm not really ready for prime time, so to speak--) I have worn my bra (stuffed) with a shelf bra tank, under lovely sheer-ish tops. These are light and slightly fitted, so don't fit like a sack. And patterned stretchy fitted tops. I still look busty without being 'in your face'.

Shelf-bra tanks seem to have helped since early recovery to provide a little more support and 'tone them down' a little.

As far as sizes, I was definitely wearing small tops pre-BA...and I can still wear most of them, depending on the style. Fitted is better with boobies...I think, for me, the fat feeling comes from looser clothing that used to hang on my boyish figure but now balloon out due to the sisters! Unfortunately for me, right now, I can't always pull off a fitted top. But patterned fitted tops are perfect for me, as they show my figure but don't accent the boobies so much.

Hope this makes sense. You are still early, so the sisters seem much bulkier than they will in a few weeks or months. Try some fitted tanks (I still wear smalls in these!)

I know I used to feel very slim compared to the voluptuousness I am experiencing now. My hubby says the same as your BF...that the boobies help the rest of me actually look smaller! (I've actually gained 7 pounds though, so I hope this is true!!)

If you're looking for blouses and shirts, bravissimo do lovely tailored shirts that are designed for big busted ladies, so you don't get the gaping across the bust

Oh BOY can I relate! I tried on my clothes at 5 days, too! And I looked like a linebacker in EVERYTHING! I was so upset! Everything I tried on I put in a pile cuz it 'had to go.' I like horizontal stripes, and it wasn't looking good.
HOWEVER...and this is a big one, give it about 4 more days, and you'll be looking great again!
I had some new things for Christmas: solid 'wrap-style' sweaters in solid colors with hoods...they worked, and looked just fine. I had a couple 'loose' ones (one fleecy thing with snomen embroidered on it) that disguised the fact that I had a strap on.
It WAS a couple of rough clothes days, but by the end of the week, I tried my thinner, horizontal stripes on again, and too my shock and amazement, they fit, and I look good again!
It was totally the 'dropping' thing that helped (I'm dropping faster than usual, so says my PS). Don't give up hope!

On the dad thing...that's easy: if you don't want to tell him about the BA, simply tell him you pulled a muscle yesterday right across your chest, and unfortunately will have to be a spectator during his visit. But you promise to be his cart-driver, hold his cold drink while he plays, and pad his ego every chance you get!

Oh, and fwiw, I wear a 6, too, went from 34A to 34C, and didn't change sizes, except bra and swimsuit top.

Thanks for the tips! I feel like mine are dropping early too but I don't know

Take it easy girlie... I've found that layers look good on the bigger busted, like a cami underneath a nice blouse or smooth sweater. Don't try to hide them though... baggy shirts make the look for sloppy. Be proud, stand tall, chin up, you've been blessed! P.S. I'm 27 and was terrified of telling my father... they were visiting the week after my surgery! I had told my mom and she helped me tell him. I'd rather him know ahead of time then see the look on his face if either he noticed or tried to hug me just for me to hunker down. Best wishes chica, hang in there.

Thanks!! I did hug my dad, I have not told him yet. I am a wimp. I don't know if he has noticed. I will get the guts soon I think!
