Awake since 3 a.m. can't sleep!!
My eyes are so tired I just want to sleep!! But I can't...it's so uncomfortable. My back kills!!
Would so love to sleep straight through one night...just one night. I think I'm going to have a couple beers tonight to help me sleep better. (yep, PS gave me the go ahead for alcohol yesterday...said I was healing perfectly so go for it, YAY!) Just wanted to rant as I sit here half asleep wishing I could be totally asleep. (yawn) |

I went through the same problem. A heating pad on the back helps and sleeping in a lazy boy. I finally slept all night when I coud go back to my bed and sleep on my side. Good luck.

Sorry Love,
Sleep is so precious for your healing body. I also had a chair recliner that I slept in during the day. At night I couldn't sleep in our waterbed...so my sweet husband joined me in the guest bedroom (mattress was stable and solid). Try the heating pad on your back and maybe a nice hot shower to relax muscles before bed. Hopefully sleep will not escape you for long.

Well, the meds helped me along, but the heating pad was a marvelous thing for my back, I guess it really wasn't a big deal for me b/c I don't think I get as much sleep as I need as is, so recovery was a blessing in disguise b/c it forced me to stop whereas before I forced myself to keep going.

Wow! I went thru the same thing. I would be up all night and then couldn't nap during the day thanks to my two year old daughter. Try to be patient (easier said than done, I know!), but in no time you'll be sleeping thru the night and look at your boobielicious boobies in the morning. Hope it gets better.

Hey Denise! for the past week & I can't get to sleep until 3 or 4 am, it's been crazy. I'm up all night on the computer & watching TV...dreading the fact that 6 AM is rolling around way too fast! I went to my PS on Tuesday for a follow up. He gave me a script for Ambien & told me to sleep in my bed now - I had been sleeping in my recliner in my room since surgery. Tuesday night, I took the Ambien & was out about a half hour later. At 4AM I woke up, wide awake. I didn't mind...at least I got more than 2 hours of sleep. ALL day yesterday, my back hurt SOOO BAD, not to mention the terrible morning boob - It must be from sleeping in my bed. So last night, I take the Ambien, set my pillows up, get out the heating pad and go to sleep around 10. At 1am I was up (I thought the house was on fire-nope, just the heating pad roasting me!), 2 am - I'm up...at 3am my 4 year old decides he's going to wedge himself into our bed...I said "the hell with this" and got into my recliner. So far, my back feels pretty good. I told my husband this morning that I'm staying in the recliner - he can have the stinkin bed to himself.
So then I put the news on and here all the crazieness about Ambien. People cooking and driving in the middle of the night. Figures.... I think tonight it's Tylenol PM & the recliner. Hopefully I won't be seeing you on here or on myspace at 3 am cause we'll both be sleeping!!!! LOL |

I wish we had a recliner...I go back and forth between the bed and the couch all night. Oh yeah, my 4 yr old gets in bed with us everynight...right about then is when I move to the couch. When hubby leaves for work I go back to the bed, lol! I finally went back to sleep this morning at 6 a.m. and was actually comfortable...kind of. I put a pillow under my back, but only on the right side so I was kind of laying on my left side. It helped a lot. I'm going to try one of those pads they make for period cramps on my back tonight. I tried the Tylenol PMs last week, they made me throw up. That could have been from all the other meds I was taking at the time, so I may try it again tonight. I sent my PS an email at 3 a.m. this morning asking him for tips on sleeping better...should hear from him later today, and I'll share the tips he gives, if any. I think he'll have one or two. Ya know, I totally feel better than I did last week, except for the back hurting and not sleeping. If we could just get some good sleep and ease these aching back muscles, I bet we'd be doing pretty darn good. Are you at work right now? On no sleep? You are a trooper girl! |

Hey girl. You may want to try some Benadryl. It is over the counter and very safe to take. In fact it is the ingredient in a lot of OTC sleep medicines. It definitely helps me. Also, I have been sleeping in the recliner instead of the bed. It helps not to lay flat.
I don't know if you are supposed to do massages or not, but I do mine every time I wake up in the night. It really helps with "morning boob". BELIEVE me, it does get better. Today is actually the first day I woke up feeling like a human!! |

My PS gave me some suggestions on sleeping better....#1 sleep in my bed (that didn't work) #2 Take Benedryl (I think I'm immune to the stuff) #3 Don't nap during the day (I don't. If I did I would have been fired by now from my job, lol). I guess that's why I walked out with the Ambien script. So I guess my options are NO SLEEP - or baking cakes in the middle ot the night & taking joy rides. Tough decision! Glad to hear you're feeling better...last week did suck! I think I feel better too. If my leftie would drop, I would be a happy camper. I'm getting tired of the strap! |

Jill, thanks! I forgot about Benadryl! I used to take that to help me sleep at night a long time ago when I had a BUNCH of crap going on that made me scared to fall asleep. I'm going to try it tonight.
I asked my PS yesterday at my appt. if I should be massaging them and he very firmly said NO. I told him I talked to lots of ladies online that were told to massage so I was concerned that I should be, and he said NO. So far he has done a great job on me, so I didn't question him further on that...I trust him. Well, I have hope that as the days go by it will get better. So many other things are getting better so the sleeping thing has to also. Thanks again, Jill! And Allison, you're almost there...to the point of feeling normal. Just another month away, lol! |

Allison, I know! I begged my PS yesterday to let me leave the torture strap in his office and never lay eyes on it again. I have to wear it for another two weeks at least...possibly for a total of 6 weeks all together. YIKES!! BUT, it is pushing lefty down, little by little.
I still am cracking up about cooking and driving in the middle of the night! I'll have to keep an out for that on the news! |
