Lumpy Scars?
Hi Girls,
I have just had my one week post op visit and my doc removed my stitches and covered the incisions (crease)with tape. I have to leave it on and change it weekly for twelve weeks. I think the theory is it keeps the incision clean and hydrated however it isnt silicone tape. My question is as I felt the scar/incision through the tape, my right one feels lumpy. Is this normal? Worried it might be hypertrophic or keloid! Is this likely to settle down ? I think I may have read that massage with a finger can help it flatten? Afraid to do anything til I get the good advice from this site. I dont know how they look by the way because he covered them up before I thought to ask. Thanks Ali |

Hey Ali. I had a lumpy scar too for a while. But it has gone away now. I don't think you need to worry but call your PS if you feel like it. We paid alot of money for this and we deserve to have our question answered so don't be shy.

Ali, dont panic at this stage...at one week post op I was too scared to look at mine(wussy with things like that) let alone feel them...as a guide, I had my left over stitches snipped at one week, then didnt see anyone til 8 weeks, (so there's plenty of time) my ps said then to use bio oil and by rubbing with one finger will break down any raised scars...so please dont worry yet, plus bear in mind not to fiddle with them til they are properly healed, then rub with bio oil or something similiar, its also said to lighten the colour of the scars too x

I am a bit lumpy and using a scar solution. Figured it was normal after reading various threads here.

Mine were lumpy as well. At my one month post op my PS said to start using Mederma. In the two plus weeks I have been using it, they have faded and become less lumpy.
