Question Recovery with transax incision

My PS says my areolas are too small for an incision in placing silicone implants. Therefore, I will require the transax (armpit) incision. I have heard mixed reviews about this being a harder recovery. Any feedback?

The first PS I interviewed said this incision would mean absolutely no lifting my arms out or up from my body more than a few inches for a full 2 weeks....could cause problems with healing.

My 2nd and chosen PS says I can do what I want, it will just hurt.

Does this incision really take longer to heal? Hurt more?

What about loss of nerve sensation in arm, etc.?

Thanks.

msmisty will become famous soon enough
i have the transax and i had a very easy recovery...i was lifting my arms by the second day (not high mind you, but to get things off of tables/counters...etc..) I dont know what recoveries are with other incisons but honestly i didnt think transax was difficult at all. plus i love the fact that i have no scarring on my breast...

Yeah

The first PS I interviewed said this incision would mean absolutely no lifting my arms out or up from my body more than a few inches for a full 2 weeks....could cause problems with healing.

My PS on the third day he lift my arms and he said lift it any time.Since the third day I stretch them.I don't think my recovery was slow.I was shopping alone in the MALL on the third day.

My 2nd and chosen PS says I can do what I want, it will just hurt.

Does this incision really take longer to heal? Hurt more?

What about loss of nerve sensation in arm, etc.?

My right arm maybe around 5 times I felt a wierd feeling but it's not hurt.I don't know. But very fast recovery for me coz I even went abroad on the 21st day.

Thanks.[/quote]

I don't have anything to compare to, I was sore but I could lift my arms. I was back at work in a week, doing some things was uncomfortable. I never had any loss of sensation in my arms. My morning boob was the worst part of my recovery, and I had trouble pulling myself up with my arms at first but I don't know if that has anything to do with the incision placement.

It wont be anything like what the first PS told you. It's easy, I'm sooo glad I went with transax incisons, wouldn't change it for anything!

i totally would have had that one done but my PS said i was gonna need too many ccs and it would mean a BIG tunnel dug in my arms to reach the breasts cause I was going with silicone

but then i heard that some women get as many ccs as I was looking into 350-400 silicone via transax, so who knows, maybe he just didn't like that idea.

are you going with saline or silicone? if saline, the tunnel shouldn't be too big and recovery should therefore be faster

I have 350 cc silicone.

Maybe your PS isn't expert in TRANSAX.My PS recommended it for less scar.My righty seems disappearing but my lefty is purple I'll be dealing with it soon.He gave me CREAM for that but if it won't work he will inject me with steroid

I loved this incision! It was very easy healing, almost no scar!! I have pics of my scars in my yahoo group. I think it will be a breeze, and you will probably be happier with your scarring, looks just like your armpit crease.

Hello I have the same concerns!! My surgery is approaching and I am considering doing the crease b/c I am really worried about hitting a nerve and I am pretty sure I will need silicone in the future so why have 2 scars?
I will talk more during my pre-op April 18, 2007!! Can't wait

i think his speciality is actually TUBA but he does a few transax but mainly for saline implants, unless the implants are smaller than 300 - for silicone , which is what i wanted, he said the healing would be less comfy with Transax bc of large "tunnel" necessary to pass the implants
i still wanted transax but then figured he prob knew better than me, so accepted the areola incision instead....

how are your scars doing?
i see you are past the 2.5 months post op mark
you say left one is purple?? is it painful still?
and what would steroids do to help??

how is your right one? do you have pics?

also, how is your recovery of arm movements and strengh?

i know it's useless for me to ask all this now, but i'm just curious as i really wanted to go with transax

why would you "need silicone in the future" and not now?
why do you not want to get silicones straight out??

if you are going with saline by transax, the incision is VERY SMALL indeed (as with salines anywhere else, actually )
so chances of hitting a nerve with transax are less likely with saline as i understand it

Mina,
have you discussed your redo incision options with your ps?

I am not going for silicone now as it is $2000 more money. As I am just starting out I cannot afford that. I also want to see how mushy saline's will get and after x number of years I can change to silicone if they are not as soft as I would have liked.
So I guess my preference in cohesive gel but the $ is lacking
