aahh the pain!
hi guys well im back from my ba which was yesterday morn, Il post more later cos Im so weak right now...
The pain really hurts, I feel like someone has jumped up and down on my chest and then gone at my sternum with a hammer! Its hard to do anything even go to the loo, and wow getting up from lying down..agony! I couldnt sleep at all last night I was lying down and then my boyf helped me sit up and I couldnt sleep it was awful...I considered myself quite tough but I guess Im not! I got 265cc high profile in the end, my surgeon said he had a bit of a time getting them in cos Im so small round my ribs (25) and have such little pointy boobs..I guess there wasnt much of a surface area! they look really far apart now, well in this boulder holder sports bra they put on me, i hope they get a bit closer together..do you tthink they will? Im aslo worried cos when i go measured again before surgery my ps said one boob was 2cm lower than the other(he had mentioned before but not 2cm!) and said it will look more noticable when there done??? I hope not too bad?! The painkillers dont seem to dull the pain too much and what did u guys use to help with he nausea, i hate feeling sick... anyway I must go im exhausted after writng this! ru xx |

Welcome to the other side! Rest rest rest! That is what helps the most. I'm a week out and one of my nipples was 1/2 cm lower and right now it still is. Dont know if it will change or not as time goes on but it is something that can be fixed later if it bothers you. For now just give your body time to adjust to the invasion. LoL!

your dr didn't give you any thing for nasua? Mine gave me sepositories that I didn't use but have you tried eating with your pain meds? I found that the pain meds and antiobiotics were murder on an empty stomach.
Don't try to lay down flat (I am 9 days out and still can't lay flat) get lots of pillows and prop yourself up on a couch or recliner, don't do too much, put a table with crackers, a couple bottles of water, your meds and some hard candies next to you and just relax. I found it most painful to try to get up from a flat position that I have just given up on the whole idea until there is no soreness left. Are you pain meds dulling the pain? What would you say your pain level was? If you are more in the 7+ range and pain meds aren't helping call your PS right away. You really shouldn't be in unbearable pain only a day or two out. They normally place a bunch of pain meds in the implant site so you don't have to worry about it for at least the first night. I hope you get to feeling better, and remember if ever in doubt call your doctor. Soft hugs. |

Post-op
My BA was Wednesday--I love the ice packs from the PS office. If yours didn't give you any, mix water and rubbing alcohol (about 3 parts water, 1 part alcohol) put in a zip-loc (quart size works well) and freeze. My PS gave me some phenergan or reglan to take with my pain pills to cut down on the nausea, it you can't get ahold of them Dramamine works too. Good luck girl..hang in there!!

Congrats on your new additions!! I hope you feel better soon. I agree you need to ask for some anti nausea meds. There is no reason for you to be feeling nauseated when there are meds to take care of it!!

Sorry about your pain Lilru,
I have a question for you girls also; My BA was on Tuesday and I do have a little pain every now and then but not enough even for me to take drugs really. I hate all this lying around and have been up and down, I also am able to reach things on shelves and able to lie on my back for small periods... is it bad to be doing this kind of stuff or if it doesn't hurt is it ok?? I am a bit worried that I should be taking it easier? |

Welcome to boobieville !!!!! Sorry about your pain. I always had a few crackers with my pain meds. Something in your tummy may help with the nausea that pain medication can bring. I would definitely call your PS about the pain. Maybe they can give you something different or you can take a higher dose of what you have? The suggestion about ice is a good one. Some PS's don't like ice so I would check on that too. Us a small bag of frozen veggies. If you use something large, the extra weight on your new chest can be painfull.
My natural breasts were pretty close together. So when I saw my new boobies for the first time, they seemed so far apart. But as they are dropping and softening a little, they are coming back together. So hang in there. You are streatched to max between the implants and the swelling after surgery. It will get better.

i didnt really "take it easy" after my BA. I think you are supposed to move around and try and walk around and stuff...i mean nothing strenuous but I found I had a pretty rapid recovery and i just stayed on top of my pain meds for the first 3 and a half days and then i got off of them. Of course dont do anything if it hurts, but try to walk around a bit- i found when i just layed in bed all day it made me feel sore and stiff and when i got up and moved i felt so much better.

Eating something with your pain meds should help with the nausea.
Taking them in an empty stomach will make you feel sick. Try crackers or toast. I'm sorry you are in so much pain, it will get better though, just keep on top of your meds. Don't wait until you are in serius pain to take them, it defeats the purpose. I hope you feel better soon and congrats!!

Thank you so much for posting that. I had heard from a few friends and friends of friends that it was so easy! I thought it was going to be a lot less pain than I am experiencing and I thought I had a high pain tolerance. My sternum really hurts, I guess it is do to me being so small before?? I also happen to hate pain medication but from last night at 4 am and on I plan on taking it every 4 hours because feeling that sore is just ridiculous. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better. I think you may be a day ahead of me so let me know how you progress. Take care!

pain
The pain I had was in my sternum as well. My PS said use ice packs like frozen peas. Also I alternated valium and percocet around the clock. The valium hlped the muscles relax. It was awesome for my sternal pain. I am 18 days post op and the only pain I have left is in my sternum area at night time. But it is getting better and yours will too. BTW congratulations.

For the first 4 days I faithfully took my Vicodin & Valium as directed. Took Maalox chewables first so I wouldn't get a stomach ache. Had soup & gingerale handy. Nothing to complain about. By day 5 NO Vicodin, but I still get bad spasms and use the Valium only at bedtime to get a great night of rest.
