Reverse Crescent Mastopexy - Lowering the Areola
This subject had a reverse crescent mastopexy, a procedure in which the nipple is moved downward, instead of upward (crescent mastopexy). It isn't a lift, but has been included in this section, anyway. In this case, a small, moon, or crescent-shaped, are of skin is cut just beneath the areola. The areola is then pulled down and the incision is stitched closed. For the crescent mastopexy, the skin is removed from the top of the areola.
The reverse crescent mastopexy procedure was an option for this subject. She believes that her plastic surgeon placed the implants just a bit too low. She may have had slight bottoming out, though she does not believe this to be the case. The reverse crescent mastopexy is less expensive, less invasive, and easier than having the creases raised. It can be performed under local anesthetic.
