Holly's Breast Augmentation Story

Two days before Surgery -

It's 11 p.m. and I'm going into surgery in 38 hours.  How do I feel?  Well, I actually feel pretty good.  I was having some last minute worries with regard to size but I think I've resolved that thanks to the gals on the forum.

I was struggling with my plastic surgeon's intention of using between 220-280 cc's for a small C.  I see other gals in the 300's also achieving 34C so I was worried I wasn't getting enough.

My goal is bigger but natural looking breasts.  I don't want people immediately looking at my chest and wondering whether they're fake.  Being Asian has its challenges in that 95% of Asian women are B or less so getting into the C territory makes me nervous.

Also, I'm an avid rock climber who has been in several magazines, always sporting my flat chest in a small sports bra.  I don't want my boobs to be judged too much too often.

I chose to go with overs because of the issue of implant distortion during pectoral muscle flexing.  I talked to several women about it and three surgeons.  Two of them, including my choice plastic surgeon, thought overs was the best route.

Story:

My whole life I had been teased about being a boy since I had NO chest. I tried everything form padded bras which I didn't even fit into and it's hard to find an AA that fits when you have not even that some days.  I grew a bit but basically fluctuated between A and AA.  I started to pad my bras with shoulder pads and then those silicone inserts (I like to call them chicken cutlets lol).  I love the way they made me look but could not afford to get them done so I lived like that for about 8 years.  I was 19 when I started to wear them and I'm 26 (almost 27).  That is a long time.  After being married for 1 1/2 years I decided to get them done.  It was something I always wanted and never had the money for so now that I had the cash I decided it was time.  I researched for a good 4 months before my 1st consultation.

There were girls at my work who had had them done and so I got references from them.  There was even a girl that was getting hers done 2 weeks before me so it was encouraging. My hubby was against it until he realized how important it was to me. He did more research than I did, he was so concerned that I would not be able to breast feed after we had kids and of course my health.  Together we did a lot of research.  My first consult was with a plastic surgeon that came highly recommended and had a great name in my city.  After leaving the consult I was convinced I was not getting them done. He made me feel like I inconvenienced him.  I was not offered an option of where my incision would be or how many cc's. I was not even given a choice of silicone or saline.  My dad actually emailed me the link to this site and thank goodness I found it because it opened my eyes to a lot of things. I had no idea of all the choices and so I decided to go on another consult. I had made the appt but had already booked my date with the previous plastic surgeon who had not taken a deposit (lucky for me). He ended up moving my date for my surgery without telling me so when I phoned to check when I had to go in to pay they told me then! I was mad that I had rearranged all my clients and taken time off work so this was no good.  Luckily I had the 2nd consult which was WAY better and ended up going with him instead.  I only had to post pone my surgery 2 days or so since they had a last minute cancellation (yippy for me).  I ended up getting the same amount of cc's I would have but I got overs instead of unders (better for me) and I got silicone instead of saline (again better for me).  He was so thorough and put me at ease for sure.  Answered all my questions and his staff was GREAT!

There was so much that went through my head the days before surgery, anesthetic and waking up plus what if the pain was too much for me etc.  I was really scared but the girls on this forum helped me out and calmed me down. The day of the surgery was easy. I don't remember much.  I went in to the room lay down and that was about it. I woke up with boobs!  I remember waking up to one of the nurses putting my shoes on, then I woke up again and I was leaving and my hubby was helping me into the car.   I apparently was talking to my mom on the phone and everything so it couldn't have been that bad.   I took the advice and rested lots after the surgery with my hubby taking good care of me.  You can't really do much for yourself for the first couple of days.  You really have to take it easy. On the 4th day I was off any pain meds and drove my (standard) car to NY (about 5 hour drive).  I have to say that recovery was not too bad as long as you stay on top of the pain meds.

I am now 7 months post op and LOVE the new additions.  It is the best feeling to be able to wear a bra from a store with NO padding, or to buy a top that you have to go braless in and be able to do it with confidence. Plus bathing suit shopping is a lot more fun!  I would do it again in a heart beat.  If for nothing else than to feel sexy in lingerie that I could never wear before.  I always had confidence but I walk a little taller now and hold my head a little higher.

I have to say this was a great experience and well worth it. Thanks to all the girls on this forum to for all there help!
