Julie B 's Breast Augmentation Story

Hi I'm Julie and I am 32 and a mother of 2 breastfed children. I grew up in a family of big breasted women. At 5'2" I was a large C, full and perky, but while breastfeeding, my breasts swelled to well over a DD, and I was left with rather droopy-looking deflated breasts. Although, I was able to wear a D size push up bra to make them look great in clothes, I was very uncomfortable with how they looked while undressed. A friend of mine had gotten a BA and was very excited with her results, and after discussing it with my husband, we decided it was something to look into.

I began to do some extensive research on the costs, risks, and facts of having a breast augmentation. I found www.justbreastsimplants.com and was overjoyed at the treasure trove of real live women from all around the world that could answer the questions that had been raised during my research (my BA friends). I went on 3 consults and finally settled on Dr. Romano in San Francisco, although it was a two hour drive for me, I felt the most comfortable with his consult and his before and after pictures. I set my date and spent the next two months narrowing down exactly what I did want, pictures, incision site, unders, smooth, round moderates. etc.. as well as pictures of what I didn't want. I consulted with my new BA friends almost daily, and followed my pre op instructions precisely. I was as ready as I could be.

On the day of surgery, we checked into the hospital early, they had me fill out my last minute paperwork and finalize my payment. Then I was prepared for surgery. My PS stopped in for a last minute hello, as they slipped something into my IV. Next thing I know, I woke up thinking "when are they going to start?" Then I realized my chest was all bandaged and the nurse was helping me to sit up and talking about getting dressed. The next few hours were a blur, as I dressed and road back to our hotel, took my meds and passed out in an arm chair with plenty of pillows all around. I woke up feeling a bit stiff and tender but overall much better than expected. I was feeling good enough that we actually went downstairs to the restaurant for a late dinner.

The two hour drive the next day was a little uncomfortable, but we packed the pillows and ice packs around me and made the best of it. My chest felt tight and like I had two hard rocks bolted on, but I had very little bruising or swelling. I only took my pain meds the first night, after that I just used Tylenol as needed for discomfort. I slept in the recliner for the first 4 nights, and then switched to the bed with lots of extra pillows. I had such a quick recovery, that I was quickly back to my old routine, and had to actually make myself slow down and take it easy, because although I felt good enough to do things, I knew I should be patient and let myself heal up. My breasts softened and dropped into place pretty quickly, but I had some sag to start with, so the skin had been pre-stretched. I had lost most of my nipple sensation, but have gained almost all of it back already. I am now about 9 months post op - I've had no complications. My breasts look and feel wonderful! I am a D or DD depending on the bra and look very natural. Dr. Romano gave me exactly what I asked for, and his skill as a surgeon resulted in my fast recovery with only small amounts of bruising and swelling because he was careful to avoid excess damage. I love my breasts and feel confident with or without my clothes. I highly recommend this procedure and I highly recommend Dr. Romano - he's a great plastic surgeon!
