Laura's Breast Augmentation Story
I am almost 40 with one child, 18 (as of 2004). I have wanted larger breast for around 12 years. In 2003 I decided to make it a reality and began saving my money and researching. I bought "magazines" to find what look I wanted and even went to strip clubs and when I saw a girl with a great set, I asked her to join our table and discussed with her where she went, and the procedure she had done.
I went online and found doctors in my area ( Colorado ) and a few in other states (like California ) and decided that for cost and follow-ups I would stay in state. I visited several doctors, met their staff, met the PS and had many initial consultations. I finally decided on Dr Squires. His view and my idea of what I wanted fit well together.
I scheduled my BA on Oct 13, right after my annual vacation which is very strenuous. I was very excited and on my last pre-op visit Dr Squires gave me four prescriptions, Percocet, Valium, antibiotics and a patch for motion sickness (I don't remember the name of it). Since my surgery was scheduled early, I was instructed to put the patch on the night before and to take a Valium to relax me and make sure I had a good nights sleep. I was glad for the early surgery time. This way I wouldn't starve to death waiting.
I woke up, showered, and dressed very comfortable with a button up the front shirt, and slip on shoes. My boyfriend drove me and hung out with me until they dragged me off to the OR, which I remember very little of.
When I awoke, I was in very little pain when asked. A few moments or minutes later, I awoke again and had a little more pain - the nurse gave me another injection of pain meds and about 15 minutes after that she helped me dress and wheeled me out to my BF and his car. The BF went shopping while I was in surgery and is such a great guy. He bought me 2 new shirts that zipped up the front and were very cute. It was an ok drive home, but I was starving. He stopped for Boston Market which I devoured when I got home. I did not have any nausea and felt ok except that I was doped up and don't remember much. We watched a movie that night, which I don't remember either. :)
I continued the laying around for 2 more days. The pain meds kept me ok, along with ice packs which I used off and on the entire time. I had no bruising at all. My first follow up was the very next day. Again my BF drove as I was still pretty doped up. All was well and I was given instructions on how to massage.
I was able to drive around 7 days post op, but shifting was a little difficult and for some gears I had to reach over and use my left hand as my right was more sore. I still occasionally needed help standing from a sitting position as the muscles were still very sore.
On week 2, I had another post-op visit. My plastic surgeon was very pleased with the results. And I have been very aggressive with my massaging so they new guys were coming along wonderfully. I was completely off any pain meds and only taking Advil in the am when I was a little sore and swollen. I was also given the ok to sleep on my side (what a relief)... or so I thought. It was actually a little painful and I was more at a "lean", but after about a week, I was fully on my side again.
At 4 weeks, I had another follow-up. My plastic surgeon is so pleased with the look! He took pictures and winked at my BF. :) He also gave me several silicone strips to put on the scars to help them to heal quicker and smaller. I too am VERY happy!
My next appointment isn't for 3 months - at which time I hope to have dropped and fluffed. At almost 7 weeks, my left has begun to drop. The right is taking longer as it is my more dominant side. I was measured the other day at a 32D, but "my" measurements show 34C.
