To my knowledge, in the US you cannot purchase your implants from the supplier and only the surgeons or surgery centers/hospitals can purchase them.

Your surgeon must buy them; they cannot be purchased without a medical license and registration with the company making the implants.

If you are using a board-certified plastic surgeon, they will only use implants supplied by the company. With any other implants, there is no guarantee where they have been, what they have been exposed to, and how safe they may actually be for you.

Thank you for your question.
I do not believe that there is any surgeon in the United States who would place breast implants that were purchased outside of the office or hospital setting. Furthermore, none of the implant manufacturers in the United States that have FDA approval would allow an individual outside of practice and, in most cases, anyone who does not hold board certification as a plastic surgeon to purchase implants from them.

Breast implants are only sold to physicians

None of the American breast implant manufacturers sell implants to the general public. The main issue is sterility. If you buy implants online, you cannot be sure they are still sterile and thus you risk complications like infection and capsular contracture if they are used and inserted. The current implant companies only sell to licensed MD's.

As far as I know, you will have to purchase your implants from a plastic surgeon. Beware of buying implants on the black market as you never know what you end up buying, nor how they will affect your health--both short-term and long-term. Good luck.

No, it is not legal to purchase breast implants on your own. Your plastic surgeon must be the one.

No, your plastic surgeon needs to purchase, but we can purchase from any company that the patients wishes and in any size. I have an exclusive arrangement for XL silicone breast implants also.

They have to be purchased by your plastic surgeon.

I would not use an implant that I, the surgeon, did not purchase.

You can only get them through your surgeon. Companies don't sell direct to consumer.

Breast implants are medical devices that are only available to physicians for purchase. One company, Sientra, will only let physicians certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery purchase their products.

In our practice, we order your breast implants for you. We have you come in for a sizing appointment so you can decide exactly what you want, and then we order those implants just for you based off what you choose. Breast implants are medical devices, so they have to be ordered by a medical facility.
