Risks of smoking
Good morning Dr. Hasen. I'm considering revising my old saline implants now that they are past the 10 year mark. I figure if I am having surgery for my breasts I may as well consider other things at the same time. I am looking at body contouring through liposuction. I have some areas that may be able to be treated with less invasive procedures like coolsclupting. My question is, with the nonsurgical lipo procedures do I need to quit smoking before? Are there extra risks or changes in the results?

Smoking and Nonsurgical Fat Reduciton
Thanks for your interest in our practice and your question.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of reasons to stop smoking, but nonsurgical fat reduction is not necessarily one of them. There is no added risks or diminished effects if someone smokes and does CoolSculpting or SculpSure.
However, if you want the old implants exchanged for new ones, then you must stop smoking 4 weeks ahead of the surgery and stay off smoking for 4 weeks after surgery.
