Surgeon with only four years expiernce?

Hello all I decided to take the plunge and get my nose done. But one thing is troubling me the Dr I picked only has four years experience, I didn't know this initially and now it's troubling me. I can always cancel and choose someone else with more experience what do you think?
Also there is a Dr here with 15 years experience but I don't like any of his pictures they are to subtle for me. I want an extreme change.
Anyone recommend someone in San Diego CA?

Nose jobs are some of the most challenging PS procedures. I wouldn't even go to a "general PS" for anything on my face. I love my PS but I wouldn't go to him for anything to do with my face. I would only consider facial plastic surgeon who ONLY does faces. If the guy with 4 years is a facial specialist I would consider him over a general PS. DO your homework. So many more people are unhappy with nose job results.

When I was looking for surgeons for my BA iI was looking into how much experience they had as well. But the surgeon I had chose has only 4 years experience which is why I by passed him at first but then the reviews were just to good to pass up because he had a 5 star rating. Turns out he had done 4 years undergrad, 4 years of med school, 5 years of plastic surgery residency and 1 year in fellowship. And so far my results are fantastic, I'm only 2 weeks post but its they are turning out great. So it showed me not to look so much into that anymore, especially if they have a 5 star rating. After my consult I just knew I wanted him to be my ps. You may want to give a consult a try just to see how professional he is.

I'm only looking at facial plastic surgeons but that four years scares me! I found another one with 12 years but he has no pictures up!

Personally, I don't really look at how many years the surgeon has been in the field, it's the talent that really matters. Have you found negative reviews? Most people that are unhappy will put a negative review up right away. If the 4 yr surgeon put up his best and the more experienced one did as well, and you aren't a big fan of the experienced one, it makes you wonder what his mediocre work looks like...

Here are two studies to skim through:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1856535/

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2628499/
Quote from 2nd link:
"Closely related to the problem of remoteness of education is the need to maintain old skills, develop new skills, and grow through experience. Experience alone can substitute for a lot of mechanical skills. It is generally agreed that the deterioration of purely physical skills begins near the end of the third decade of life (around age 28). Cognitive skills diminish later. Yet it is widely agreed that most surgeons reach their peak of overall performance around the second half of the fifth decade (45–50 years of age). What appears to be happening is that, for more than two decades, growing experience can and does more than compensate for diminishing physical skills."

I haven't had a chance to read them yet, I've only skimmed through...

Can you do a consult with the other one and hopefully see photos in the office? I understand where you're coming from though. I'm not even sure what I would do in your case with a nose job.

I actually had liposuction done by a PS fellow (post residency) at Vanderbilt many years ago. It was almost free. I was his last case before he joined a very prestigious PS group in Miami. Obviously he was being supervised. I work in an academic medical hospital and we have tons of surgeons who are residents or fellows and they're doing brain surgery every day.

Welp I just called the surgeon with the 15 year experience and I asked how many rhinos he performed last year he said 20 so he's definitely out.

Now another surgeon who is ridiculously expensive said he did 300 last year but he has about eight years experience.....I wonder if he's being truthful
And the surgeon who I scheduled with the one with only four years experience....I called just now and the receptionist sounded like she was high on pot, she said "uhhhh what? Huh!!! What is this regarding???? Uhuh I don't know I'd have to ask someone....." click I hung up he's definitely out now!

Travel to AZ?

I know a friend that went to this Dr https://www.toddhobgood.com/

He had AMAZING results. His nose was disfigured after a motor cycle accident and he went here... it looks like he never went through any trauma to his face.

I read this Dr specializes in facial plastic surgery and is double board certified.

Something doesn't add up here .....so he is out!
