Scar Revision - Excision
Has anyone had excision performed on a depressed scar? I have a chicken pox scar that my PS is going to treat this way in a couple of weeks (he did my BA) ... would love to hear feedback from anyone else who has had this done, the pros and the cons.
For those who don't know and are curious, this is when they cut into a depressed scar and pull the top and bottom ends together, so that you're left with a small line that they stitch closed. It's like trading a large scar for a much less noticable, fine one.

doesn't hurt only skin.
My dh got hurt at work a few yrs back and hand a huge scar down his nose. They did this also to him and no pain. Just normal heal. Keep dry etc. Can't see it anymore.
Use the silicone strips on it after it is healed . It will mellow to nothing then..

Ok, I'm back! They gave me a valium to calm me and then did an injection anasthetic in the area. I hardly felt anything during the procedure, just a bit of the tug of the stitches ... which gave me a bit of the willies, but it was totally managable.
When the PS originally discussed it with me, he said I would need to come back in a week to get my stitches out. However, he's on vacation next week, so he used dissolvable stitches instead. This has me wondering if dissolvable stitches are somehow second-rate since he had previously discussed the regular kind with me. Anyone know?
