does anyone have chronic dry eye?
Mine has been under control for nearly 2 years, but then just last week I had a major flare up out of the blue. Blepharitis symptoms which I normally don't have. I've been doing hot compresses, which has helped, but it's still not back to normal. I've been going back and forth on whether I should go in to see the opthamologist or just keep on with the compresses. On top of that I'm also worried about having to stop fish oil supplements prior to surgery. T_T

The first thing I thought of when I read your post was the Restasis commercial with that horrid, all white dr's office where everyone moves in slow motion.
Have you tried Restasis in the past? You should definitely go to the eye doctor so you can get some relief.
Do you know what may cause your dry eyes? Do you wear contacts or have allergies?
Another thing you could do is go to your regular dr for bloodwork to find out if you could be deficient in vitamin A. Dry eyes are a symptom of a vitamin A deficiency.

Totally go back to your opthamologist and have them take a look; could be something simple like allergies, or maybe they'll need to RX you something a bit stronger.
I have dry eye, but nothing too terrible anymore; on bad days I just pop a couple of drops and that usually clears it up ;;

Thank you ladies! I haven't been on Restasis yet, but my doctor has told me that would be the next treatment step for me. I need some encouragement to go in for an appointment. I hate going to the doctor! I think I'm the opposite of a hypochondriac. Everytime I have a problem I try to think up reasons not to go.
