Transaxillary Incision in Twin Falls, Idaho (ID)

Your surgeon can insert your breast implants through transaxillary incisions, which are made in the natural creases of your armpits. Your surgeon guides your implants through these incisions and through channels leading into your breasts. The transaxillary incision hides scarring well, but your breast augmentation surgery may be more challenging.

Advantages of transaxillary incision

There are multiple benefits to the transaxillary incision placement.
  • The scars are hidden in the natural crease of your underarms.
  • There is little chance of damaging your ability to breastfeed.
  • There is low risk of nerve damage that can affect the sensitivity of your breasts and nipples.

Disadvantages

There are notable downsides to the transaxillary incision as well.
  • There is an increased risk of nerve damage affecting sensation around your arms and hands.
  • Implant placement is more difficult than with other incisions.
  • It may not be possible to place larger implants, especially pre-filled silicone implants.
  • The incisions can’t be reused, and future surgeries will require incisions nearer your breasts.
