At Palmer Cosmetic Surgery our goal is to provide the best possible care to our patients so they can enjoy an improved self-image and a better quality of life. All cosmetic surgeries performed at Palmer Cosmetic Surgery are performed without the need for drains or general anesthesia. Sedation anesthesia is utilized, reducing many of the risks of surgery and making the recovery of our patients a much more comfortable experience. To make our patients recovery as easy as possible, extremely gentle operations are performed and advanced pain control techniques are administered to minimize and in many cases eliminate post-operative pain.

Russel Palmer, MD


Dr. Palmer was born and raised in New York City, where he attended Benjamin Cardozo High School and graduated at the age of 15. After graduating, he then moved to Florida, where he attended the University of Miami and received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1976.

Dr. Palmer then attended the University of Miami Medical School until 1980. He became the first graduate from the University of Miami to be accepted into a Harvard Surgical Residency program. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 1985 where he was appointed and served as the surgical chief resident.

After completing his general surgical training at Beth Israel Hospital, a Harvard University teaching hospital, Dr. Palmer moved to California, where he completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the UCLA Medical Center. Following his graduation from UCLA in 1987, Dr. Palmer completed a microsurgical and hand surgery fellowship and served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UCLA in 1988.

Once completing his time at UCLA in 1988, Dr. Palmer moved to Hollywood, Fla., where he started his private practice. When he arrived in the Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale area, Dr. Palmer brought to the medical community the newest techniques in the management of facial trauma and in immediate and delayed breast reconstruction. Along with starting his practice, Dr. Palmer also started the Department of Plastic Surgery at Memorial Regional Hospital where he served as chief of that department from 2001-2007. He has served as president of Broward County Society of Plastic Surgeons from 1997 to 1998, 2002 to 2004 and 2011 to 2013.

For the last 20 years, Dr. Palmer’s practice has been devoted almost exclusively to cosmetic surgery. He has focused his high-quality training to bring many different and important benefits to his cosmetic patients. He was one of the first plastic surgeons in the country to combine facelifts with full face laser resurfacing and is widely known and respected for producing outstanding results with minimal pain and extremely fast post-operative recoveries.
