Silicone under the muscle is a common way of doing breast augmentation and my preferred technique also for several reasons. You SHOULD get to choose your size. Please call back to the office and ask for another conversation either with him or a patient care coordinator or a nurse. You'll want to bring some 'wish pictures' preferably of women without a bra or bikini top on and see if they have rice sizers or anatomic sizers. I would feel VERY uncomfortable going to surgery without this conversation. Full stop. Good luck!

There are many options regarding implant choice when considering breast augmentation (type, shape/profile, volume). This decision is best made by the patient and surgeon, along with special consideration given both to the patient's unique chest dimensions as well as the goal for the procedure.

I would recommend a second consultation with your surgeon pre-operatively if there is any question of implant choice. There a number of ways to guide patients in making these decisions—sizers and 3D imaging being just two devices. It is best to have a very narrow range of options at the time of surgery (all of which are acceptable) in order to ensure a satisfactory outcome.

As always, consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
