My right breast is slightly swollen and is somewhat itchy, but the bottom of my implant is just fine. The top feels so weird when I grab my right breast; it feels like there is a huge egg sitting on top of my implant. Is this something that's going to turn into a capsular contracture, or is it my breast tissue since my period is almost here? Plz help. I'm scared.
Relax :-) You have already mentioned two possible explanations one of which if related to your period will resolve. The possibility of capsular contracture is always present but typically you would feel hardening all around the implant. Give it some time, gentle massage, applying heat or cold may provide some comfort and tylenol or a NSAID is a good start. If it does not resolve, contact your plastic surgeon for a follow up visit. Good luck, you will be fine!

I need to know your age and hormonal status. Also, are your implants silicone or saline? Are they over or under the muscle? Without this information, I cannot answer your question. Call your surgeon and address this with him or her.

You should go see your doctor to find out--by an exam and evaluation--what is going on and what the appropriate follow up procedure is for you.

This may just be due to periods. See if this happens on a monthly basis because it could be due to that.

Without photos and/or an exam, it's not really possible to know what is going on. It's possible you have an implant rupture. I would suggest you see your plastic surgeon.

This is very difficult to answer without photos or more information.
See your plastic surgeon, as this may be early signs of capsular contracture.

Unfortunately, there is no way to answer your question. You will need an examination by your surgeon, so go make an appointment and don't be scared.

Thank you for asking. This is hard to say without knowing the exact nature of your surgery and seeing you in person. A physical examination is necessary to decide. See your PS. Best wishes!

I'm not sure this was a problem immediately postoperatively or if this is a new problem that's just beginning to manifest itself now. However, it is certainly possible that it might be related to your menstrual cycle. The best way to differentiate this is to be examined in person by your plastic surgeon.

It is difficult to say without an exam, but the most likely culprit is in fact a capsular contracture. I have also seen very late hematomas form on very rare occasions.
Your best bet is a visit to your PS to let him/her evaluate and perhaps order a diagnostic study.
I hope this helps.

If your breast implants are under the muscle, it could be that one has not "dropped" and/or your are developing capsular contracture. Go back to your plastic surgeon for a visit.
