Anesthesia Information
There are various types of anesthesia. The surgery you're having, as well as your health, habits, etc., all play important roles in which type of anesthesia is right for you. In this section, you will learn how each form of anesthesia works.
Your surgery anesthesia should be given by a certified anesthesiologist, or a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist). To verify if your anesthesiologist is board certified, click here to do a search on the ABMS web site. To learn more about CRNA's, click here.
There are four types of anesthesia, and they include general anesthesia, local anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and sedation.
