I had revision surgery to lower my left malpositioned implant. Will my implant drop?

I had revision surgery to lower my left malpositioned implant that was, and still is, very high up and centered into my cleavage. I have round silicone under the muscle implants. It's been a week and still no change. Is this normal or will it drop into a natural position?

Speak to your surgeon. If it was down at the time of surgery, you should be working with them to aggressively massage the implant into position and should be wearing a breast band 24/7 to keep constant downward pressure on the implant. Your surgeon will direct you. You do not want the implant to end up too low.

The implant should be dropped in at the time of revision, but you may have swelling. I would wait a few weeks.

Generally, it takes 3 months or so for implants to settle after any breast surgery.

They may need more time to drop. Usually right after surgery, implants ride high, even with revisional cases.

The breast implants usually will "drop" over first several months when underneath the muscle but you should ask your plastic surgeon and see if he wants you to do anything even at this stage.

Breast implant malposition can be caused by a few different conditions - scar tissue formation, initial sub-optimal pocket creation, improper implant size, etc. Depending on the cause, the treatment is different. In most cases, you should see at least some improvement in position right after the surgery. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.

Patience is one of the most important factors in achieving the best results in cosmetic surgery. We all want to see the final result as early as possible. Unfortunately, the healing process is complicated and takes time.

Breast augmentations take about six months for the swelling to go down and the breasts to settle and assume their final size and shape. When we do a breast enlargement, surgeons try to center the implant behind the nipple. Minor position adjustments can be accomplished to account for the normal asymmetry that most women have. If the breasts are different sizes, saline implants can be adjusted to achieve better symmetry.

Please wait until six months post op and then return to your original surgeon. Minor asymmetry is normal. Too vigorous surgical approaches may result in more expense, more scarring, and new complications.

Good luck :)

Revision surgery to lower an implant should have immediate results and should not look the same as before surgery. You will need to be seen for more specific advice.

Like most breast surgeries, a pocket revision can take a few weeks to a few months to achieve its final position and shape. At one week out, you are still very early in the healing process. Be patient and see how things evolve over time. When you hit the three month mark after surgery, that is the time to really assess the position and result.

Without examining you or at least seeing photos, its difficult to answer the question. While it certainly may drop, I would expect to see some change even a week out. It would normally take at least a few weeks or longer for the implant to fully drop, but I would expect to see some improvement soon after the surgery.

I am three months out and have been spitting stitches six weeks after surgery. I understand scars take up to a year or more to mature, however incisions that were once impeccable (with current surgery) are now very unattractive. This is my 2nd revision (I've had implants for 26 yrs) but with a full lift this time. I can't continue scar treatment because of spitting stitches/stitch abscess. My PS doesn't seemed concerned and advises me on care. Is there an end to this madness?

I replaced my 8 year old saline implants with Inspira because I wanted a more natural feel and look. I am two weeks post and was told they weren't going to change much considering my skin was already stretched out. I was also told inspira are more filled so they won't be as soft as traditional silicone. Does that mean they won't get any softer? They don't feel much different from my saline. I got the responsive gel and went 90 ccs bigger.

I had a capsulorrhaphy due to severe bottoming out after a lift with implants. My implants are still small and unders. I don't want them to drop, because now at 2 weeks post-op, they look normal. My right breast cannot take more dropping without looking bottomed out again. The left a/n are a little too low now, but I can handle that. I'm wearing a sports bra 24/7. Can I expect my breast to stay this way? I'm paranoid about my right breast dropping any more. Thank you!

I want to go from 400 cc's too 800 cc's. I'm 170 pounds, 5'8'' and broad shouldered. I'm a bigger framed woman and feel that 800 cc's would give me the look I desire. My plastic surgeon said he would not go bigger because he is not fond of that look. I want to go as big as I want, and I also want a lift. Is it common for a surgeon to refuse to insert implants of this size? Where can I find a surgeon who will give me what I want?

I had a breast augmentation 3 years ago and from the beginning I've developed a dent on the cleavage area of my right breast. My surgeon said it would get better with time but it has only gotten worse. Afterwards, I had a second augmentation because the first implants were too heavy, and the dent is still there. I'm afraid I have a double bubble and he does't want to admit it. How should I proceed in fixing this?

I am hoping for a sizeable difference. Currently, I have no cleavage and need a push up bra with padding to get any kind of cleavage. I am hoping to look bigger, and at the same time, not too big. I started with a deflated 32 C cup.

I just received 300 cc, high-profile silicone implants a week ago, placed under-muscle. Although I am tall and lean (5'8", 144 lbs, 32A/B prior to surgery), my doc said he could not place anything larger than 300 cc because of the pectum excavatum. Anything larger makes my nipples point inward due to the inward trajectory of my chest wall. I am happy with any size increase I can get, but still feel that I will be too small once I drop and fluff. Are there any other options available for me?
