At 10 days postop there can be all kinds of swelling and temporary "creases" or irregularities after a tummy tuck that typically resolve over time (it's very early!). Don't panic, check that your compression garment is not too tight in that one area, check in with your plastic surgeon, relax and recover well!

Not sure what you mean by horizontal crease under the belly button. A photo would help. If you have any concerns, please contact your plastic surgeon.

It is best to ask your surgeon and go in for a follow-up visit. This is not a routine question.

The answer depends on what your abdomen looked like before surgery.

Not in my experience. You may be wearing your garment/binder in a way that is causing this.

It may or may not be normal. If you had a crease above your belly button before surgery, it may have been relocated to below. If this is not the case, it is still too soon to address it or do anything to correct it. You are still only 10 days out; it is too early to judge your results. I know it is hard to be patient but give it some time.

Thank you for asking. 10 days after body contouring is still early. Creases are common and usually temporary. Check with your plastic surgeon. Make sure any garment you're using is fitted correctly. Best wishes!

It is very difficult to answer this question without photos and no complete understanding of what type of tummy tuck you had.

Usually there is still a lot of swelling in the tissues at 10 days. I suspect you are wearing some sort of compression garment that probably has a fold or even a band in this area. This is likely what is causing the horizontal crease you are seeing. It should improve as your swelling starts to go down. I tell my patients that it is generally two weeks before the swelling starts to improve and two months for most of it to go away. You will look much better two months after surgery than two weeks after surgery.

Hello, and thank you for your question. I am unclear based upon your question of whether this may be a normal response to swelling and/or one of the garments that patients currently wear for compression following this procedure. A picture may be quite helpful. Best of luck with your recovery.

Creases after a tummy tuck can be accentuated from swelling and compression. Positioning in the flexed position after the tummy tuck can also accentuate a crease.

Swelling of the abdomen is very common 10 days after breast augmentation, and this may be reflected by the crease you are describing. Manual lymphatic drainage massage techniques may help to speed this up, but it typically resolves on its own and will be much improved by 3 weeks after surgery.

Typically it is not common to have a deep horizontal crease under the belly button. However, I would need to see what this looks like in order to be able to better explain it.

I wanted to lose weight prior to surgery, but I will work on it later. I have pretty elastic skin and heal pretty quickly. I had bowel resection nearly two years ago, so my stomach muscles are really lax and I feel distended a lot. Do you think I should get 450 cc or 500 cc? My bust is 36B, and I have a wide base now....hope to be narrow over time. Does anyone have advice, pictures etc?

I am doing research on surgeons and have a scheduled mommy makeover. I can't find anything online for my doctor. He is claiming to be double board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery but nothing online says he is. He also said after my tummy tuck and muscle repair I won't be able to do anymore sit-ups or heavy lifting. Is this true?. I'm having second thoughts about this doctor. Can you help guide me to make a good choice?

The doctors we are looking at for a breast lift and tummy tuck are board certified. One is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery; the other is certified through the American Osteopathic Association. Reading online there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. Can anyone confirm or aid in a decision? Is one better trained than the other?
