My new saline implants look very wide and short. Is this normal in the beginning?

My under the muscle, saline, 700cc implants cover a lot of surface area on my body but do not seem to protrude with the height I wanted. I feel so big and bulky and not feminine. I have had them for a month. They are wide and short, which makes me look like a male body builder. Is this normal in the beginning? Will they take normal form over time?

Breast implants come in different shapes or degrees of projection. If they appear too wide and flat, one may consider implants that are taller and less wide (high or ultra high profile).

I believe your implants are moderate profile, which are wide and do not project nearly as much as high profile. You are not resolved, give it 3 mos.

Your breasts were surgically enlarged, so this means they will not move in the same way as normal breasts, nor will they have the same appearance and shape. Saline or silicone, they will tend to be firmer than natural breasts and the contours are usually somewhat different. In some patients, these discrepancies may be rather noticeable. Although every effort is made to place the implants symmetrically, complete symmetry is rarely achieved--even natural breasts do not have the same exact symmetry. Immediately after surgery, the breasts are swollen and firmer. The final shape and size is approximated after 2 to 3 months, but up to one year may be required for the end result.

Your doctor may require you to move or massage the implants within the breast pockets during the postoperative period to help soften them. Textured implants do not require breast massage. You will be informed about this at your postoperative visit.

You did not mention what type of implants you have. Implants come in different shapes (moderate profile, moderate profile plus, and high profile) as well as sizes. Patients with a narrower chest often need high profile implants to give them the projection they need. The breast measurements done at the initial consult determine what type of implant needs to be used to get the result that the patient wants. Without looking at your photos or knowing your original chest measurements, it is difficult to provide an accurate answer.

Yes, that is also normal, but over time they should usually come into the pocket and look better. Make sure you see your surgeon for verification about your wound healing progress.

Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to an accurate assessment of your situation, advice, predictions, and/or meaningful reassurance.

I routinely ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation surgery. This waiting time allows patients to (usually) physically and psychologically adapt to the new body image.

From the physiological standpoint, it takes many months (and even up to one year) to see the final results of surgery. Factors such as swelling, tissue contraction, skin redraping, implant shifting, etc. come into play.

Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with long-term.

Without an exam, it is not possible to answer this question. Follow your doctor's instructions, as there may be a lot of swelling. But if you are greatly concerned, which it sounds like you are, you should follow up with your surgeon and air your concerns. Good luck!

The shape of the breasts after a breast augmentation depends on a few factors such as the patient's original anatomy, implant pocket creation, and the shape and size of an implant. It could take another month or two to see your final appearance, but you could require a different implant shape to achieve the desired result.

Most women take at least three months to recover and for everything to stop changing after a breast augmentation. Give yourself another two months of healing and then see how things look. In muscular women, it often takes much more time to see the final result, so just be patient. I hope this helps.

I had breast augmentation 6 weeks ago and they seem to have settled but i'm unsure. I'm feel like they are too small. I have tried on bras and I measure into a 32DD as well as 34 C sister size (I was a 32a prior). How long will it take for my breast to drop and fluff? I also have a gap in between which makes it difficult to achieve cleavage.

I had a breast augmentation on April 8th. I feel like they are shaped funny and not as big as I wanted. I went submuscular. Prior to the surgery, I was a 38 B and now I have 560 cc silicone gel Inspira implants. I was hoping to be a DD. Should I have gone bigger? Will my breast take a more natural shape? When is a good time to get a new bra, and will I be a DD once my breasts have settled and healing is complete?

I thought I was getting 400cc high profile silicone but my PS said they'll be 400cc moderate plus. I wanted a natural but big look, a D cup, and a small gap. Maybe that's why he chose those? Is there much difference in projection?

My breast augmentation is next Saturday and I am hesitating between 225 and 250cc submuscular silicone! I am a 32A/tiny B and fill up a 32B bra at Victoria's Secret. I am looking to be a full B/small C. I'm 5"6 and weigh around 100lbs. I am so scared I'm going to look disproportional and fake, but am also scared this is going to make me go too small. My goal is to look natural and proportional, while at the same time have a nice rack. Which implant do you think will give me the desired look?

I'm a little lost on the XL implants matter, that I personally like. Are they really unsafe? What are the reasons for that? It seems most PS don't recommend/perform them. Is it by lack of experience/expertise? Idealism? Are those PS who perform these procedures just "warriors" responding to a well present market? I would be curious to hear some honest answers, leaving the politically/socially correct behind. Thanks in advance.

I am 5"4 and 145lbs. I am currently a 34C and would like to be a Dcup. My PS recommend a lift. I informed him i wanted implants but still want a natural look. PS recommended 485cc smooth moderate plus silicone obove the mucle. Possible mini lift during surgery depending on how the implant looks during surgery. It just sounds like a lot of CCs. It doesn't feel right and now I'm freaking out.

I'm currently a large C-cup. My doctor said with 600cc I will end up around a DD. I'm fine with that but 600cc seems really big. Can my frame really handle that big of an implant and not look like Dolly Parton? I'm 5ft 8 in tall, 160lbs, size 10, wide shoulders.

I know there is a vast amount of factors that go into breast augmentation, lifts, and implant manufacturer costs alongside anesthesia, facility, meds, and other costs. But in your experience what is a ball park cost range you typically see for breast augmentation, and breast augmentation + lift. It'd be very helpful if you share a range like 9-10k or 6-7k, etc. Thanks!
